About Lantern SMP
Lantern SMP is a relaxed survival server where players gather resources, build lasting homes, protect land, and trade through player-run shops. Its world is intended to remain in place instead of receiving full-map resets, while Java and Bedrock players share the same survival environment.
What Makes It Different
Lantern is built around a permanent world rather than seasonal resets. Existing towns, bases, inventories, and player history are meant to remain as the borders expand for newer Minecraft terrain, giving long-term builds more weight than short seasonal progression.
Proximity voice chat lets Minecraft players speak through audio that becomes quieter or inaudible as their in-game characters move apart.
Simple Voice Chat makes nearby players audible according to distance and requires the client mod for voice use.
A persistent world is a Minecraft server world that keeps its player-made changes and ongoing progress across repeated visits.
The server intends to preserve existing towns, bases, inventories, infrastructure, and player history instead of performing full-map resets.
Player Shops are player-run places or interfaces where players sell items to other players for currency or agreed trade goods.
Players operate chest- and barrel-based shops with prices, stock, staff permissions, and collected profits.
Survival servers let players gather resources, craft gear, build shelter, and develop a base while staying alive in a dangerous world.
Ordinary survival progression through resource gathering, crafting, exploration, farming, building, and hostile-world challenges is the core loop.
An SMP is a multiplayer Minecraft survival world where players gather resources, build, and progress alongside one another.
A shared multiplayer survival world centers on gathering, building, farming, exploration, and long-term player projects.
Land claims are protected areas that let a player or group control who can build, break, and interact with blocks inside a marked part of the world.
Players protect building areas with land claims, subject to permission rules and an eight-chunk buffer around other claims.
Semi-Vanilla servers keep Minecraft’s ordinary survival progression while adding a limited set of server-specific changes around it.
The server preserves standard survival progression while adding claims, shops, chat systems, voice chat, and other server-side conveniences.
The core loop is familiar survival play with server conveniences around it. Players gather materials, build bases and towns, claim land, use homes and teleport requests, explore through the live map, and trade through chest- and barrel-based shops. PvP is available only when everyone involved has consented.
Progress comes from ordinary survival gathering, crafting, exploration, building, farming, and improving a long-term base. The permanent-world approach keeps older builds and infrastructure relevant, while player shops let established players turn surplus resources into useful supplies or profits.
Server-specific additions include land claiming, player shops, party and global chat channels, invisible and invisible glow item-frame recipes, Simple Voice Chat support, and automatic farm and block-limit optimizations. Proximity voice chat requires the Simple Voice Chat client mod, while the server itself runs the required plugin.
The current Overworld border is 10,000 by 10,000 blocks, while the Nether and End borders are each 5,000 by 5,000. New terrain can be opened after Minecraft updates without resetting existing towns, bases, inventories, or player history. A live map is available for exploring discovered areas.
PvP is optional and consent-based. An enabled PvP indicator counts as consent, and players may not bypass PvP protections or create teleport traps intended to kill someone or make them lose items.
Player shops use chests or barrels for buying and selling. Owners choose the quantity, set prices, add shop staff, restock stock, collect profits, and adjust the shop sign style.
Lantern emphasizes nearby neighbours and shared builds over leaderboards. Players can create private parties and switch between party and global chat, while public chat is English-only and private messages can be used for other languages.
Griefing, stealing, hate speech, harassment, inappropriate builds or skins, hacked clients, unfair automation, exploits, trade scams, and punishment evasion are prohibited. Players must respect an eight-chunk buffer around other claims, avoid claim abuse and lag machines, and use tickets for reports or appeals.
Lantern is no-pay-to-win. Voting awards an in-game crate key, and no gameplay advantages or overpowered kits are presented as part of the server's model.
Consent-based PvP restricts player combat to agreed encounters or designated areas, reducing unwanted fighting in shared survival spaces.
Lantern uses an enabled PvP indicator as consent and prohibits protection bypasses or teleport traps intended to cause item loss.
A private group communication channel lets invited players coordinate separately from broader server chat.
Players can create parties, invite friends, and switch between private party chat and global chat.
World borders expand over time or through milestones, gradually making new terrain and resources available to players.
Lantern can open new terrain after Minecraft updates without resetting existing towns, bases, inventories, or player history.
Invisible item frames display items without a visible frame, supporting cleaner decoration, signage, displays, and build detailing.
Lantern adds recipes for both invisible item frames and invisible glow item frames for decorative building and displays.
Server-side limits constrain selected entities or block-based systems to control automation density and world performance.
Lantern applies limits to mobs, breeding, villagers, hoppers, beds, and tile entities while normally avoiding automatic mob removal.
