About UltraVanilla
UltraVanilla is a compact survival server where players gather resources, build settlements, trade through player shops, and add to a shared world that has been kept across Minecraft updates. Its changes stay close to vanilla, with a few quality-of-life commands, brewing, Dynmap, Discord chat, and community-run projects rather than a large collection of separate game modes.
What Makes It Different
The server combines a deliberately small survival community with a persistent world that has accumulated towns, libraries, shops, map art, transport routes, and documented local history over several Minecraft eras. Its custom systems are restrained enough that the main experience still feels like ordinary survival instead of a heavily redesigned mode.
Semi-Vanilla servers keep Minecraft’s ordinary survival progression while adding a limited set of server-specific changes around it.

The main loop is familiar survival: explore, mine, farm, build, and develop a base or settlement. KeepInventory is enabled by default, `/sethome` and `/home` provide limited fast travel, and `/spawn`, `/outpost`, and `/oldspawn` connect the main hubs. There is no land-claim or Towny system, so players are expected to respect the 150-block building-distance rule and communicate before developing near existing builds.
Progression is mostly self-directed and stays close to vanilla equipment, farms, exploration, and construction. Players can pursue long-term builds, join towns, stock player shops, organize projects, or improve the shared world instead of following a rank ladder. Time-based ranks and donor benefits are primarily cosmetic rather than gameplay upgrades.
Custom additions are intentionally limited. The server includes home and spawn travel commands, KeepInventory, Dynmap, Discord chat bridging, Brewery drinks, chairs, mob-head drops, cosmetic name options, sign editing, and small protections against destructive mob behavior. The server also supports a separate creative server with large plots.
The main world is persistent and includes older terrain alongside newer expansion areas. Spawn and outpost hubs, Nether highways, towns, shopping districts, libraries, map art, and other player landmarks give the map a sense of accumulated history rather than a seasonal reset cycle.
Player-versus-player combat requires consent, making the server a poor fit for unsolicited raids or open-world kill hunting. PvP can still appear in agreed fights, competitions, and organized events, while players may choose to disable KeepInventory for higher-risk play.
UltraVanilla does not use a server economy plugin or central currency. Trading is handled through player-run shops, markets, direct exchanges, and community warehouses, keeping prices and supply in players' hands.
Community-run events and competitions are an important part of the server's social life. Documented activities include build competitions, the UltraVanilla Olympics, ice hockey, jousting, seasonal festivals, and other player-organized projects. Players can propose and run their own events through the community channels.
UltraVanilla is built around a small social community rather than a busy public hub. Discord connects to in-game chat, and the collaborative wiki documents towns, builds, settlements, events, players, items, and server history. The server presents itself as LGBT-friendly and encourages shared projects without requiring every player to join the same town or group.
The central rules prohibit griefing, stealing, unsolicited PvP, harassment, hate speech, hacking, most duping, lag exploits, and gameplay-focused alt accounts. Players should keep at least 150 blocks from other builds unless they have permission, keep in-game text chat enabled, and follow staff instructions. Some client-side building and accessibility tools are allowed, but x-ray, movement hacks, botting, automated PvP, and similar unfair tools are not.
Support is donation-based, with cosmetic conveniences such as `/hat`, `/nick`, and name customization available to donors or long-term players. Gameplay ranks do not provide pay-to-win advantages, and the server does not advertise a conventional gameplay shop.
Consent-based PvP restricts player combat to agreed encounters or designated areas, reducing unwanted fighting in shared survival spaces.
Player combat requires consent on UltraVanilla; organized fights and competitions remain possible, while unsolicited kill hunting and raids are prohibited.
A build distance rule requires players to keep space from existing constructions unless nearby development has been approved by their owners.

KeepInventory preserves a player's carried items after death, reducing the normal survival penalty of losing equipment and resources.
