About Kaboom

Kaboom is a free-OP anarchy server where powerful operator commands are part of the game. Instead of chasing a normal rank ladder, players can build, experiment, alter the world, and cause trouble with tools such as WorldEdit, CommandSpy, and Weapons.

The server also supports Java and Bedrock players. Its long-running setup has included separate Overworld, Flatlands, Nether, and End worlds, giving builders a practical place to work alongside the more chaotic parts of the server.

What Makes It Different

Most anarchy servers start with survival gear and a dangerous world. Kaboom starts with operator power. WorldEdit, creative building, unusual commands, and weapons turn the server into a shared Minecraft sandbox where the tools themselves are part of the fun.

Kaboom Gameplay

Kaboom is built around free-build experimentation rather than a long survival grind. WorldEdit is useful for large projects, while operator commands let players change how they move, build, and interact with the world. CommandSpy and Weapons add extra ways to play with other people.

History of Kaboom

Kaboom was created on February 16, 2015, with a simple premise: combine free operator access with anarchy. From the beginning, the server focused less on structured survival progression and more on giving players unusual control over the Minecraft world.

During 2015 and 2016, Kaboom expanded its toolkit with disguises, mob sounds, weapons, CommandSpy, downloadable schematics, world downloads, and a hub linking the Overworld, Flatlands, Nether, and End. A dedicated Flatlands world made large building projects easier, while commands such as /username added a playful layer of customization.

The server continued adding specialist tools through 2016 and 2017. Snipers, God Mode, InventorySpy, more ranks and tags, and the custom Extras plugin joined the command set. The project also moved from the old flame.ga address to kaboom.pw in April 2017, giving the server its lasting domain.

A major technical transition arrived in 2018 when Kaboom moved from Cuberite to Paper. The server restored older commands and weapons, rewrote CommandSpy, added EchoPet, introduced a separate hub world, and changed how world resets were handled. Community members also contributed improvements to the plugin code.

In 2019 and 2020, development focused heavily on compatibility and stability. Kaboom tested newer Minecraft versions, improved handling for TNT, fluids, redstone, and large block areas, added machine guns and grenades to the Weapons plugin, and moved from Paper 1.12.2 toward Paper 1.15.2 while supporting a wide range of clients.

Bedrock support returned experimentally in September 2021. The following year brought a Paper 1.17.1 update, Java 16, restored schematics after resets, and further plugin work. In 2024, Kaboom added Minecraft 1.19 support, upgraded to Java 19, introduced particle trails, and added commands including /particletrails, /getjson, and /broadcastminimessage.

In April 2026, Kaboom moved to stronger Hetzner hardware, upgraded to Paper 1.21.7 and Java 21, restored IPv6 support, re-enabled the vanilla teleport command, and fixed WorldEdit permissions. Today it remains a public free-OP anarchy server centered on creative building, command experimentation, and open-ended multiplayer chaos.
