About Aedificium
Aedificium puts building first. Players can work in open creative areas, develop protected plots, or switch to the natural-terrain survival region when they want ordinary resource gathering and survival. The server keeps these experiences distinct with separate inventories and permissions while preserving a long-running shared world.
What Makes It Different
Creative and survival share the same server, but they are kept separate with their own inventories and permissions. That makes it practical to move between unrestricted construction, plot-based projects, and survival without mixing the two kinds of progress.
Freebuild is a Minecraft building mode centered on creating structures and landscapes without a required combat, quest, or level-progression path.
Players can develop projects at their own pace in a main-world freebuild region and a separate freebuild world.
Creative is a Minecraft building mode where players construct and test structures with unrestricted access to building materials instead of gathering them through survival play.
Creative building is the server's primary experience, with unrestricted construction spaces and no required creative progression ladder.
Creative building is the center of play, with a freebuild region in the main world, a separate freebuild world, and a PlotMe world for protected personal plots. Players can also explore the survival portion of the natural-terrain main world, with server commands supporting world navigation, spawn travel, schematic access, and basic player and world information.
There is no required rank ladder in the creative experience. Players choose a building space, establish a plot or freebuild area, and develop projects at their own pace. The main progression choice is whether to work in unrestricted creative spaces, protected plots, or the separate survival region.
Aedificium's custom layer is practical rather than RPG-focused. Plot controls, schematic support, world and biome commands, spawn travel, nearby-player checks, and separate creative permissions give builders tools beyond ordinary vanilla play.
The main world combines a natural-terrain survival area with a separate creative freebuild region. Additional creative spaces include the flat freebuild world, the PlotMe world known as visitor_flat, and architect_flat, a read-only version of the older main-world terrain. The current natural terrain was introduced in November 2024 using Terra.
The community uses Discord, an on-site forum, and a small staff structure of architects, moderators, and administrators. New players enter as visitors, while architect status is intended for players who take on a deeper building or community role.
Respect other players' projects and personal space. Griefing or modifying another player's creative work without permission is forbidden, as are doxxing, raids, advertising, harmful network activity, and punishment evasion. Appeals can be made through the forum or by email.
The server is free to play and does not use a paid feature store or monetary donation system. An in-game currency exists, but it is not real money.
Separate inventories keep items and progression isolated between distinct worlds, modes, or server environments.
Aedificium separates creative and survival inventories, allowing players to switch between unrestricted construction and resource-based play without mixing possessions.
Mode-specific permissions give players different building, interaction, or command access according to the world or gameplay area they enter.
Aedificium keeps creative and survival permissions separate, reinforcing the boundary between unrestricted construction and resource-based play.
A read-only world preserves a map for viewing or navigation while preventing players from changing its terrain or structures.
The architect_flat world preserves older main-world terrain as a read-only creative space, allowing players to inspect it without editing it.
Multiple worlds provide separate connected Minecraft environments with distinct dimensions or purposes for exploration, resources, and player activity.
Aedificium offers a natural-terrain main world, a separate freebuild world, PlotMe's visitor_flat, and architect_flat for preserved terrain.
Schematic access lets players use saved structure blueprints for build reuse or placement in supported locations.
Aedificium provides schematic access through its custom command layer, giving builders an additional way to work with reusable structure designs.
Flat worlds use level terrain that gives builders a predictable canvas for large structures, planned layouts, and experimental construction.
Aedificium includes visitor_flat as a flat creative world alongside other dedicated spaces for builder projects.

History of Aedificium
Aedificium first went online as Chromium on July 21, 2013. Its early identity came from a freedom-style creative server where players had unusually broad building control. In 2015, members of the defunct TatsuCraft Freedom community moved over after that server closed, helping shape the community that continued under Chromium.
On August 31, 2015, a data-loss incident partially destroyed Chromium and rolled the main world back by about a month. The server returned from backups, and the main world continued to expand. In November 2024, its terrain generation changed from entirely flat to natural terrain through Terra, while older terrain remained available in a read-only world.
On July 9, 2025, a power surge took the server offline and damaged part of the host drive. Aedificium reopened on September 12 after recovery work restored the server data. A website and map refresh followed in October 2025.
