About CraftYourTown
CraftYourTown is a Towny survival server built around towns, nations, protected land, and player-run communities. You can join an existing town, claim plots, or save up to create a town of your own.
There is much more to do than gather blocks and build houses. Jobs, quests, mcMMO skills, custom fishing, player shops, dungeons, custom mobs, and regular events create many ways to grow. Keep inventory reduces the sting of death, while PvP and town politics still give the world some risk.
What Makes It Different
CraftYourTown makes your town the center of the game. You are not just building a base; you are managing land, money, residents, shops, and relationships with nearby towns.
Its custom fishing system is another major difference. Fishing has rare fish, special upgrades, its own currency, unusual mobs, and tournaments, so even a quiet activity can become a serious progression path.
Towny is a settlement system where players found towns, claim land, and control how residents use it.
Town creation, land claims, plots, nations, taxes, and town permissions form the server's central gameplay structure.
Land claims are protected areas that let a player or group control who can build, break, and interact with blocks inside a marked part of the world.
Towny claims and plot permissions protect and organize settlements.
Custom Items are server-created weapons, tools, armor, or usable objects with abilities or properties beyond Minecraft’s standard items.

Start by joining an open town with `/findatown`, using `/town rtp`, checking `/opentowns`, or asking in chat and Discord. You can claim a plot after joining a town.
Creating your own town costs £10,000. Town claims use connected chunks, and outposts let you build away from your main settlement. Towns also manage taxes, permissions, plots, residents, and public access.
Players begin at in-game rank 1 and can work toward rank 10 by completing objectives. This path is separate from optional store ranks.
Jobs include Miner, Excavator, Lumberjack, Hunter, and Farmer. mcMMO adds skill levels and abilities for mining, farming, combat, fishing, repair, alchemy, taming, and more. Quests and custom fishing provide additional goals.
Custom content includes Slimefun-style machinery, custom items, gadgets, custom mobs, cosmetics, custom tools, custom enchantments, and a server resource pack.
PyroFishing adds 162 custom fish across six rarity tiers, fishing augments, Entropy, crabs, deliveries, and fishing tournaments. mcMMO also changes how many normal Minecraft skills work.
The main experience uses Towny worlds made from claimed chunks. Towns can expand, set plot permissions, create public areas, build shops, and form nations.
Resource worlds provide a safer place for large-scale gathering and destructive activities. A dedicated live map helps players view the developed world and its settlements.
PvP is controlled through Towny and plot settings rather than being enabled everywhere. Towns can toggle PvP, while arena plots keep PvP active.
Keep inventory is enabled, but combat and risky areas can still cause trouble. Rules also prohibit traps, harassment, and harmful teleport setups. Mass destruction is restricted to resource worlds.
The main currency is the pound symbolised by £. Jobs pay money, the Bank can hold money and earn interest, and towns use their own banks for claims, upkeep, and taxes.
Players can trade through the Auction House, chest shops, player warps, Discord marketplace channels, and chat auctions. Chest shops support custom items and charge a 15% transaction tax.
Regular events include minigames, vote parties, Envoys, tournaments, Piñata Parties, and seasonal activities. Fishing tournaments can reward players for catch length, total catches, Entropy, crab kills, or the number of biomes visited.
Vote parties take place after every 75 votes, and seasonal Crabmas content adds limited fishing rewards and boss encounters.
The community is centered on towns, nations, player shops, recruitment, and shared projects. New players can find towns through in-game commands, Discord recruitment channels, or public town spawns.
The main community language is English. Discord provides announcements, support tickets, marketplace activity, event information, and a place for towns to recruit members.
The server prohibits inappropriate content, unfair advantages, hacking, most unfair automation, bug abuse, harassment, scams, malicious disruption, punishment evasion, and intentional mass destruction.
Town rules also protect borders, permissions, town banks, residents, and settlement designs. Auto clickers are allowed only while the player is actively monitoring the game. Mods that provide unfair advantages are not allowed.
CraftYourTown is free to join. Optional store ranks are purchased with store coins and are separate from the free in-game rankup system.
The store also offers paid server products such as cosmetics, keys, and progression-related items. A purchase is not required to enter the server or begin playing.

History of CraftYourTown
CraftYourTown began as a Towny server in April 2017. Its early identity centered on building towns, protecting land, voting for rewards, and growing a player-run economy. The first public join address used the CraftYourTown name directly.
The server soon developed beyond basic Towny survival. Town creation, chunk claims, town taxes, nations, shops, jobs, and player trading became the foundation for long-term play. Players could build settlements together instead of treating the world as a collection of isolated bases.
By 2021, the feature set had expanded with Slimefun, mcMMO, custom items, custom mobs, dungeons, jobs, player shops, custom enchantments, events, and a server resource pack. Bedrock support also allowed players on consoles and mobile devices to join the Java community.
Later development pushed the server toward a larger custom survival experience. Fishing became its own progression path with rare fish, fishing augments, Entropy, crabs, deliveries, and tournaments. Other systems added custom tools, gadgets, cosmetics, rankups, quests, and special rewards.
The current era is organized around Version 11. Towny remains the central structure, but players can now combine settlement building with mcMMO skills, jobs, custom fishing, quests, trading, and server-wide activities.
Version 11.1 arrived on June 27, 2026, bringing new content, gameplay changes, and economy balancing. The update continued the server's focus on adding depth without replacing its town-building foundation.
Today, CraftYourTown is a mature crossplay survival community where towns and nations shape the social world. It combines protected building with custom progression, active trading, competitive events, and enough side systems to support many different play styles.
