Spellbrook turns survival into a magic-school RPG. Players enroll in Fire, Water, or Nature magic at the Academy, complete Assignments, transcribe spell tomes, and cast combo-based spells through wands or staffs while building a protected home in the Survival Realm. Broomsticks, custom creatures, boss encounters, and world events give the shared world more direction than ordinary SMP progression.
What Makes It Different
Spellbrook makes magic part of ordinary survival rather than treating it as a separate kit mode. Players assign spells to wand slots and trigger them through left and right click combinations, then build elemental mastery while flying customizable broomsticks between Academy and survival content. Movement, combat, exploration, and progression all use the same custom magic systems.

New players begin in Spellbrook Town and follow a tutorial to the Academy. They choose an initial magic school, receive a starter wand and spell, learn to use Wand Workbenches, transcribe mysterious tomes, track Assignments, and travel through portals to the Survival Realm and Resource Realm. The Survival Realm is intended for bases and claims, while the Resource Realm provides a recurring place to gather materials without permanently reshaping the main building world.
Assignments provide Magic XP and Credits, with easier tasks refreshing daily and harder tasks refreshing weekly. Magic Mastery progresses from level 1 to level 50 for Fire, Nature, Water, and Core mastery, unlocking tomes, wand lockboxes, gold, Glimmer, spell scrolls, and other rewards. Players also unlock more spell options through Transcribe Tables, improve their equipment, earn broomstick components, and gain access to further Academy and world content.
Custom content includes elemental Fire, Nature, and Water spell schools, mana costs, combo-based casting, transcribable spell tomes, wand and staff inventories, custom mobs, bosses, creature jars, companions, broomsticks, furniture, clothing, and themed cosmetics. Wands and staffs can support up to eight spells, while broomstick cores and skins change their handling or appearance.
The setting centers on Spellbrook Town and its Academy, with portals leading to a persistent Survival Realm and a weekly-reset Resource Realm. Current areas and encounters include the Dark Forest, swamp, graveyard, beaches, academy classrooms, Study Halls, the Combat Arena, and the Spellcasters Society Sanctum. Survival and resource worlds have a large 40,000 by 40,000 block border.
The Combat Arena is a dedicated PvP location where players fight for Combat Crests and exchange them for rewards. PvP is one part of Spellbrook rather than the entire server, with the wider experience leaning toward survival, exploration, custom mobs, assignments, and cooperative encounters.
Spellbrook uses several connected currencies and reward tracks. Gold supports ordinary purchases, Credits come from magic Assignments and are spent in school-specific Credit Stores, and Glimmer is used for utility purchases such as speeding up transcribing. Society Sigils provide a separate reward path for Spellcasters Society members and related content.
Spellbrook runs rotating world and seasonal activities alongside its regular progression. Recent content includes the Elven Mage's Quest, the Spellcasters Society Sanctum, new seasonal cosmetics, Apple Bobbing content, charity bundles, and updates to world bosses and spells. Events commonly provide special currencies, cosmetics, equipment, or limited-time rewards.
The Discord is the main social hub for announcements, feedback, event coordination, and player reports. Spellbrook also maintains a public community wiki covering its tutorial, locations, magic systems, assignments, mobs, rules, and staff team. The server's development style emphasizes testing new systems with player feedback.
Spellbrook is family-friendly and applies its community rules to both Discord and in-game chat. Discrimination, harassment, threats, swearing, NSFW content, spam, impersonation, doxxing, inappropriate links, and punishment evasion are prohibited. Gameplay rules ban unfair modifications, autoclickers, exploits, griefing, stealing from clearly owned land, building within 100 blocks of another claim without permission, alternate accounts, AFK fishing machines, and gambling or casinos.
The optional Spellcasters Society membership provides recurring supporter benefits such as daily rewards, a nametag icon, extra Transcribe slots, faster Magic XP from Assignments, quality-of-life commands including /fly, and priority access on update days. The store also carries cosmetics, crates, bundles, and other supporter content. Some limited bundles have supported charitable causes.

History of Spellbrook
Spellbrook began as a small creative Minecraft effort and community. In August 2024, the team announced a partnership with Spark Universe and a major rebuild around a Social Survival RPG, making the Academy, elemental magic, companions, broomsticks, and boss encounters central to the server's direction.
The first public alpha opened on July 12, 2025 as a deliberately simple survival server with early spellcasting. Magic items were initially unlocked through AFK Study Hall rewards while the team tested the core systems, and the survival world was intended to remain available.
During 2026, Spellbrook moved toward a fuller progression model. Assignments, Mastery levels, Credit Stores, Transcribe Tables, custom creatures, the Combat Arena, and Spellcasters Society content were introduced or expanded. The August 2026 alpha opening and September updates continued that rollout with new spells, seasonal content, events, and world changes.
