About SoftSlayer
SoftSlayer is built for players who want to keep developing one survival world instead of starting over each season. The main world combines mostly vanilla survival with quality-of-life commands, McMMO skills, player shops, clans, and a collection of community-made minigames. The overworld keeps inventory on death and protects builds through strict rules, locked containers, tracking tools, and staff rollbacks rather than land claims.
What Makes It Different
SoftSlayer combines a permanent survival map with a no-land-claim philosophy. Players can build freely without marking plots, while locked containers, tracking tools, strict no-grief rules, and staff rollbacks protect long-term work. Players who want more danger can enter Death Valley, where PvP is always active, keepInventory is disabled, stronger mobs appear, and valuable loot returns over time.
Parkour is a Minecraft movement challenge built around crossing obstacle courses with precise running, sprinting, jumping, and landing.
The server offers hundreds of parkour courses, trophy rooms, multiplayer routes, and races as a substantial activity.
Semi-Vanilla servers keep Minecraft’s ordinary survival progression while adding a limited set of server-specific changes around it.
The server retains ordinary survival gameplay while adding McMMO, convenience commands, shops, minigames, and protection systems.
mcMMO is a Minecraft server skill system that grants experience for activities such as mining, chopping trees, fishing, and fighting.
McMMO provides activity-based skill progression, including development through mining and combat.
Survival servers let players gather resources, craft gear, build shelter, and develop a base while staying alive in a dangerous world.
The permanent overworld centers on gathering resources, crafting, building bases, farming, exploration, and survival progression.
A persistent world is a Minecraft server world that keeps its player-made changes and ongoing progress across repeated visits.
The main map has remained permanent since the June 7, 2023 final reset, preserving bases, towns, farms, and shops.
An SMP is a multiplayer Minecraft survival world where players gather resources, build, and progress alongside one another.
Players share a long-term survival world with settlements, clans, shops, community infrastructure, and player-hosted activities.
Player Shops are player-run places or interfaces where players sell items to other players for currency or agreed trade goods.
Players can establish shops in the marketplace and trade resources directly with other players.
Minecraft economy gameplay makes in-game money a central way to obtain resources, upgrades, or access.
Money, diamonds, server sales, voting, player shops, AFK rewards, and trading contribute meaningfully to progression.
PvP is Minecraft gameplay centered on direct combat between players.
Combat includes consensual overworld PvP, dedicated arenas, Death Valley, ClassPvP, Bed Wars, and PvP contests.
The main mode is survival in a permanent overworld. Players can travel from Spawn, use /wild to reach a random location, set homes, gather resources, build settlements, and use the Resource World for newer terrain and materials. Quality-of-life commands include /home, /warp, /tpa, /wild, and /spawn. McMMO skills add longer-term progression to activities such as mining and combat.
Progress comes from improving gear, building a lasting base, developing McMMO skills, earning money, joining clans, and establishing a shop in the player market. Time-based server ranks progress from Member through Civilian, Veteran, Expert, Master, and Legend. Voting and community activities provide extra money or rewards, while the SS+ rank adds cosmetic and convenience perks rather than combat advantages.
SoftSlayer adds custom loot names and particle effects through AcuteLoot, mob and player head drops, an Elytra drop from the Ender Dragon, multiplayer-friendly sleeping, lockable containers, Discord chat integration, a custom Fishing World, and a Post Office for sending letters and packages. Its parkour area has hundreds of courses, trophy rooms, themed collections, multiplayer routes, and races.
The permanent overworld is the center of the server, with towns, bases, farms, shops, Spawn, and a live map that remain useful across updates. A separate Resource World supplies refreshed terrain and current resources. The Hub links to Survival, Death Valley, Creative, ClassPvP, Fishing World, Hide and Seek, the Library, the Marketplace, the Post Office, and racing or minigame areas.
Ordinary PvP is consensual through the /pvp toggle, and non-consensual attacks are against the rules outside designated arenas. Death Valley is the main high-risk exception, with always-on free-for-all combat, no keepInventory, stronger mobs, and periodically respawning enchanted loot. The network also includes ClassPvP, Bed Wars, PvP contests, and other player-hosted competitions.
The economy uses diamonds as the main trading standard, with a server shop for selling resources and a player-run market for direct trading. Players can earn money by mining, selling items, voting, running shops, or spending time in the AFK Park. Hub apartments and AFK Tokens add another small money-and-rewards loop without replacing the survival economy.
Build contests run several times each year, usually around seasonal themes, with rewards in the Creative World. Players can also host building, writing, spleef, PvP, banner-making, racing, and other contests through the community. Hub tournaments and occasional staff-hosted minigames give the server a rotating event calendar.
Joining requires a whitelist application through the SoftSlayer Discord. Clans give larger groups a way to organize, while the server’s library, player shops, post office, contests, and player-hosted events create reasons to interact beyond ordinary survival. The community is aimed at players who prefer a small, familiar server over a large public network.
No griefing, stealing, cheating, harassment, racist or homophobic slurs, scamming, spam, or unsolicited server advertising. Players must replant farms, respect requests to leave private areas, and avoid automated gameplay or chunk loaders. PvP must be consensual through /pvp except in designated arenas, and players may not trap, trick, or repeatedly kill others.
The SS+ supporter rank costs $10 for two months or $40 for a year. Its perks include name colors, a chat prefix, custom join and leave messages, hats, nicknames, particle trails, extra homes, Discord emoji access, custom loot-name entries, and limited image frames. The server advertises cosmetic and convenience perks only, with no crates or pay-to-win combat upgrades.
A high-risk PvP zone concentrates unrestricted combat, harsher death consequences, dangerous enemies, and valuable rewards in one area.
Death Valley has always-on free-for-all combat, disabled keepInventory, stronger mobs, and periodically respawning enchanted loot.
Consensual PvP lets players opt into combat while protecting ordinary survival areas from unwanted attacks.
Ordinary SoftSlayer PvP is enabled through the /pvp toggle, with non-consensual attacks prohibited outside designated arenas.
Land claim-free building lets players develop locations without marking formal protected plots through a claim system.
SoftSlayer has no land-claim plugin; protection instead relies on rules, locked containers, tracking tools, and staff rollbacks.
Keep inventory preserves a player’s carried items after death, reducing the ordinary survival penalty for dying.
The overworld uses keepInventory, while Death Valley deliberately disables it for higher-risk combat and exploration.
A resource world provides a separate area for gathering materials without making the primary settlement world the only mining destination.
SoftSlayer provides a separate Resource World for refreshed terrain and newer resources while the permanent overworld preserves established builds.
Community contests give players organized creative or competitive objectives with rewards, judging, or event-specific recognition.
SoftSlayer hosts seasonal build contests and supports player-run building, writing, PvP, spleef, banner-making, racing, and other contests.
A Minecraft post office lets players send letters or packages to other players through a dedicated communication and delivery system.
SoftSlayer includes a Post Office for sending letters and packages, giving the community a persistent communication and delivery feature.
Locked containers protect personal storage from unauthorized access in supported survival areas.
Lockable containers protect player storage in the main world alongside strict anti-theft rules and administrative rollback support.
Parkour trophy systems reward players for completing courses and provide collectible goals beyond simply reaching a finish.
SoftSlayer’s parkour area contains hundreds of courses, trophy rooms, themed collections, and multiplayer routes with race-oriented challenges.
A whitelist application requires players to apply and be approved before joining the server, often to preserve a focused community or specialized ruleset.
SoftSlayer requires prospective players to submit a whitelist application through its Discord community before joining.

History of SoftSlayer
SoftSlayer opened in June 2011 as a hardcore PvP server where stealing was allowed, griefing was not, and major Minecraft updates usually brought map resets. PvP clans shaped the early years, and the server’s old library archive still preserves writing from that period.
After Minecraft 1.9, interest in raiding and competitive PvP declined. SoftSlayer experimented with regular survival, creative worlds, and modpacks including TerraFirmaCraft, RLCraft, Roguelike Adventures and Dungeons, and Pixelmon. Around 2020, the server moved toward its builder-focused style by disabling ordinary PvP, banning stealing, adding lockable containers, and introducing a whitelist.
The final map reset took place on June 7, 2023. Since then, the main world has been permanent, keepInventory has been enabled in the overworld, and PvP has become toggleable. Death Valley provides a separate high-risk arena for players who still want constant PvP and meaningful consequences.
