About SchoolRP
SchoolRP puts players into Karakura, a Japanese-inspired city built around Karakura High School and Community College. Players create characters, attend classes, join clubs and factions, work in shops or public services, rent homes, build relationships, and develop stories through in-character interaction. The city also includes businesses, crime groups, police, hospitals, sports, events, vehicles, fishing, and a player-driven economy.
What Makes It Different
SchoolRP combines school-life roleplay with a full city simulation. A character can begin as a Grade 7 student, progress through school, earn college eligibility, and later apply for roles such as teacher, police officer, hospital worker, shopkeeper, government member, journalist, or criminal. Combat is also handled as roleplay through agreed P2L scenes or turn-based /roll rules instead of ordinary Minecraft PvP deciding every outcome.
Roleplay is Minecraft gameplay where players act as characters in a shared fictional world and make choices from those characters’ perspectives.
Character-based interaction, in-character communication, collaborative storytelling, and structured city roles define the server's primary experience.
Jobs is a progression system that rewards players for repeatedly performing defined Minecraft activities, such as mining, farming, fishing, building, or hunting mobs.
Characters can perform or apply for defined roles including teachers, police, hospital workers, shop workers, journalists, and government members.
A persistent world is a Minecraft server world that keeps its player-made changes and ongoing progress across repeated visits.
Karakura is an ongoing city setting with continuing housing, businesses, factions, public locations, and player-developed stories.
Minecraft economy gameplay makes in-game money a central way to obtain resources, upgrades, or access.
Yen, allowances, jobs, banking, taxes, rentals, auctions, shops, and player commerce support everyday progression.
The main activity is collaborative, text-based roleplay rather than conventional survival progression. In-character and out-of-character chat are separated, local chat has a limited range, and characters interact through classes, clubs, shops, factions, homes, phones, vehicles, sports, public services, and city events. Many important roles require applications through the forums or faction Discords.
New characters start on the school grading track at Grade 7 and progress through Grade 12 over time. College access can come through yearly school examinations or by completing homework for 50 Education Credits. Players can later apply for faction roles, join clubs, own or work in shops, obtain property, and develop a character's reputation and story. Allowances arrive every 30 minutes, while fishing, shop work, and faction employment provide additional ways to earn yen.
SchoolRP uses a custom resource pack with server-made cosmetics, furniture, vehicles, gestures, phones, sports equipment, clothing, and other roleplay props. Custom models are intended to support character presentation and scenes rather than provide exclusive combat advantages. Recent systems include multiplayer gestures, skateboarding, inline character languages, sports plugins, and expanded fishing mechanics.
Karakura is a persistent city map centered on the high school and college. It includes residential districts, shopping and business areas, a police department, hospital, bank, train stations, forest, shrine, sewers, sports facilities, beaches, islands, water attractions, fishing locations, and explorable caves. The 2026 Kaigan Beach expansion added Kagoshima Pier, a bowling alley, photo booth, abandoned fishing village, lighthouse, rockpool, new courts, underwater areas, and additional islands.
Combat is roleplayed and turn-based. Players can agree to Play 2 Lose, known as P2L, or use /roll to determine initiative and the success of actions. Criminal scenes, injuries, lethal outcomes, and kill permissions are governed by detailed rules. Hacked clients, unfair mods, exploits, powergaming, godmodding, and fail roleplay are prohibited.
The economy uses yen for food, housing, vehicles, shops, services, property, and player trades. Characters receive role-based allowances and can earn more through faction jobs, player-run shops, fishing, auctions, and other in-character work. Karakura also includes banking, ATMs, taxes, rental housing, an auction system, and a marketplace built around player businesses.
Events include school dances, club meetings, sports activities, festivals, public ceremonies, faction scenes, trips, fishing competitions, and larger lore events. Clubs are expected to host meetings and activities, while current fishing competitions run at the beach on scheduled in-character days with prizes and a leaderboard.
The community is organized around the Minecraft server, forums, the main SchoolRP Discord, Roleplay Hub support, and separate faction or town Discords. Applications, character authorizations, club rosters, faction recruitment, support tickets, suggestions, event notices, and lore archives are handled through these connected spaces.
SchoolRP expects players to keep in-character and out-of-character communication separate and to follow realistic roleplay standards. FailRP, powergaming, godmodding, metagaming, unfair mods, hacked clients, exploits, VPN use, and unauthorized combat are restricted. Players should read the combat, crime, property, faction, purchase, and player-conduct rules before taking part in more involved scenes.
The official store sells ranks, rank upgrades, cosmetics, profile decorations, gesture packs, cosmetic items, and other SchoolRP packages. Custom vehicles, items, and furniture are designed as roleplay cosmetics, while store purchases are subject to the server's purchase terms and non-refund rules.
Roleplay combat resolves confrontations through agreed narrative procedures rather than relying solely on ordinary real-time game combat.
Combat uses Play 2 Lose scenes or turn-based /roll rules, with detailed requirements governing injuries, lethal outcomes, and kill permissions.
A fishing system expands fishing with specialized mechanics, rewards, progression, or ways to evaluate catches.
The 2026 fishing update adds rods, fish, collectibles, hotspots, a reel-in minigame, competitions, and a leaderboard at the beach.
Faction roles assign members different permissions or responsibilities for managing shared territory, resources, facilities, and internal operations.
Players can apply for roles in policing, hospitals, schools, government, journalism, criminal groups, businesses, and other city factions.
A structured education path lets roleplay characters advance through school stages by meeting academic or participation requirements.
Characters begin in Grade 7, progress through Grade 12, and can qualify for college through examinations or 50 Education Credits.
Local chat limits in-game text communication by player proximity, making conversation dependent on physical location rather than a server-wide channel.
In-character and out-of-character communication are separated, while local chat has limited range across Karakura.
Player housing gives users personal spaces they can acquire, customize, decorate, or use as persistent social areas.
Karakura includes rental housing and property costs, allowing characters to maintain homes alongside their jobs, relationships, and stories.
Clubs are organized player groups centered on shared interests, activities, meetings, or recurring community participation.
School clubs hold meetings and activities, including sports and other student-centered events within the school roleplay structure.
Player Auctions let players list items for sale, browse other players’ listings, and buy resources through an organized in-game marketplace.
The yen economy includes auctions and a marketplace that complement player shops, trades, fishing income, and in-character commerce.
A banking system gives players a formal way to manage money through accounts, financial services, or related transactions.
Karakura includes banking and ATMs alongside yen-based allowances, property costs, taxes, player businesses, and other economic activity.

History of SchoolRP
SchoolRP began on July 17, 2015 with Furness, a smaller school setting. Takashima City and Taketatsu Academy followed on July 18, 2016, expanding the server beyond its original school and adding a wider town, college life, shops, police, gangs, and recurring events.
On November 4, 2017, Taketatsu was demolished in the server's ongoing story and players moved into Karakura City. The new setting provided a much larger school and college, residential districts, businesses, public services, recreational areas, and room for longer-running factions and city storylines.
Karakura has continued to receive major additions rather than being treated as a static map. Recent development has expanded Kaigan Beach with a pier, water park, fishing areas, islands, caves, sports courts, and new attractions, while the 2026 fishing update added new rods, fish, collectibles, hotspots, and a reel-in minigame.
