About CivMC
CivMC turns Minecraft survival into a long-running civilization game. Players join or create nations, build cities, trade goods, negotiate treaties, and decide how their communities are governed.
Mining, farming, security, and travel all work differently here. Crops depend on their biome, ores appear through hidden veins, factories handle large-scale production, and reinforced buildings can still be attacked with enough planning.
Combat has serious consequences. A player killed while carrying an ender pearl can be imprisoned in the Nether, so raids and wars affect both territory and people. The newer Zorweth frontier adds dangerous low-oxygen regions, rare resources, rockets, and new places to settle.
What Makes It Different
CivMC makes other players part of the game itself. Your nation, allies, enemies, laws, businesses, and reputation can matter as much as your tools.
It also makes survival feel political. A farm can support a country, a railway can change trade, and one captured player can trigger a diplomatic crisis.
Geopolitical servers organize Minecraft play around player-run states that claim territory, manage borders, and compete or cooperate for influence.
Nations, diplomacy, governments, alliances, treaties, and wars define the server's main experience.
Roleplay is Minecraft gameplay where players act as characters in a shared fictional world and make choices from those characters’ perspectives.
Players create governments, national identities, political stories, institutions, and diplomacy without mandatory character roleplay.
A persistent world is a Minecraft server world that keeps its player-made changes and ongoing progress across repeated visits.
The main world retains settlements, infrastructure, borders, ruins, and player history instead of routine resets.
Survival servers let players gather resources, craft gear, build shelter, and develop a base while staying alive in a dangerous world.
Players gather resources, build bases, farm, explore, craft, and survive in a shared world.
An SMP is a multiplayer Minecraft survival world where players gather resources, build, and progress alongside one another.
The server is a persistent multiplayer survival world shaped by its player community.
PvP is Minecraft gameplay centered on direct combat between players.
Modified combat, raids, wars, and imprisonment are major parts of the gameplay.
Minecraft economy gameplay makes in-game money a central way to obtain resources, upgrades, or access.
Farming, factories, experience production, trade, and player shops are central systems.
Custom Items are server-created weapons, tools, armor, or usable objects with abilities or properties beyond Minecraft’s standard items.
Factories, Brewery, HiddenOre, Zorweth resources, oxygen gear, meteoric iron, and other systems add many non-vanilla items.
Start by joining an established nation or settlement. Most new players learn faster with a group that can provide food, tools, travel help, and advice.
Use NameLayer groups to manage permissions and private chat. Reinforce important blocks with Citadel, then connect bases with roads, rails, or other transport routes.
Mining uses HiddenOre. Ores appear when suitable blocks are broken, and larger veins reward careful excavation. Factories then turn raw materials into tools, blocks, food, and industrial goods at better rates.
Early progress comes from joining a community, finding useful crops, learning the local biome, and mining your first ore veins.
Factories become important as production grows. Advanced players build farms, smelters, factories, shops, rail systems, bunkers, and vaults.
Experience is limited compared with vanilla Minecraft. Crops are processed through cauldron factories to create emeralds or experience items, so strong progression depends on farming, trade, and cooperation.
CivMC adds a large collection of custom systems. HiddenOre creates ore veins and fossils. FactoryMod adds industrial production and resource conversion. RealisticBiomes changes crop and tree growth by location.
Citadel, Bastions, NameLayer, JukeAlert, and ExilePearl provide protection, permissions, surveillance, and imprisonment. Brewery adds discoverable drinks, foods, and effects, while ItemExchange supports player-run shops.
Zorweth adds oxygen equipment, oil, aluminium, salt, meteoric iron, rockets, special mobs, and hazardous exploration zones.
The main world is a persistent shared map with national borders, cities, railways, roads, farms, bunkers, ruins, and political landmarks. The world is designed to keep its history rather than erase it through regular resets.
Zorweth is a second, sharded planet connected to the same wider network. Much of it has dangerous low-oxygen conditions, while crater zones and underground caves provide habitable areas.
Travel to Zorweth requires research, rocket fuel, industrial preparation, and careful cargo planning. Its surface contains resources and environments that do not exist on the main world.
CivMC uses a modified pre-1.8 combat style with rapid attacks limited to nine clicks per second. Weapon damage, armor, potions, pearls, golden apples, and several enchantments differ from modern vanilla combat.
Killing a player while carrying an ender pearl can imprison them in the Nether. Pearl locations are visible, and releasing a prisoner may require negotiation, theft, or an assault on a heavily protected vault.
Outside protected structures, combat can involve raids, ambushes, traps, and long wars. The separate PvP server provides a place to practice combat mechanics.
The economy is built around resources, farming, factories, shops, and experience production. Different crops grow in different biomes and can take many real hours to mature.
Factories reduce the cost of large-scale production and can process ores, tools, building materials, food, and other goods. Player shops use exchange chests so trades can continue even when the seller is offline.
Experience has unusual value because it comes mainly from crop-based factory recipes. Nations with fertile land, good farms, and reliable trade routes gain a major advantage.
Players organize wars, elections, diplomatic meetings, celebrations, parties, trade fairs, and national projects. Large conflicts can last for months and involve logistics, military infrastructure, intelligence, negotiations, and prisoner exchanges.
The server's political map also changes through treaties, independence movements, alliances, colonization, and the rise or fall of nations.
The main community hub is Discord, where players find nations, trade goods, discuss politics, organize projects, and get help with the server's mechanics. In-game NameLayer groups provide private chat and shared permissions.
New players usually have the best experience after choosing a nation or settlement with a clear role for them. Builders, farmers, merchants, diplomats, soldiers, explorers, writers, and engineers can all find useful work.
Hacking, exploiting, and harassment based on out-of-game factors are prohibited. Most ordinary in-game disputes, raids, theft, and punishment are handled by players rather than through routine staff intervention.
Players should understand that griefing or raiding may be possible without an automatic ban, but retaliation through surveillance, diplomacy, combat, or imprisonment is part of the game.
CivMC accepts Patreon memberships. Memberships provide cosmetic and community perks such as Discord roles, in-game name colors, particle trails, and custom tab-list prefixes.
The available perks are designed around appearance and community status rather than replacing the main survival progression.

History of CivMC
CivMC launched on June 2, 2022 as the latest mainline server in the long-running Minecraft civilization tradition. Its design carried forward the genre's focus on nations, diplomacy, trade, conflict, and permanent player-built history.
The early server centered on a large shared world where groups quickly claimed territory and formed governments. Unlike ordinary faction servers, nations were expected to create their own laws, alliances, military plans, and political identities.
Its main systems gave those nations real tools. NameLayer created private groups and permissions. Citadel made important blocks harder to break. JukeAlert added local surveillance through snitches, while ExilePearl made combat a way to capture and imprison opponents.
The economy also grew beyond normal Minecraft crafting. HiddenOre changed how players mined, RealisticBiomes tied farming to geography, and FactoryMod turned production into an industrial process. Since crops provide the main path to experience, food production became a major part of national power and international trade.
As CivMC matured, its world gained more cities, transport networks, defensive vaults, player-run shops, custom drinks, printed books, special resources, and recreational systems. Later updates added new city spawns, improved factories, new recipes, expanded brewing, stronger late-game equipment, and performance fixes.
The server has kept its central world instead of following a routine seasonal reset. Older settlements, abandoned fortresses, railways, political borders, and past conflicts remain part of the landscape, giving new construction a visible connection to earlier eras.
In June 2026, CivMC expanded beyond its original world with Zorweth, a sharded frontier planet. Reaching it requires major preparation, fuel, research, and rocket technology. Its low-oxygen environments, habitable craters, caves, and unique resources created a new era of exploration and colonization.
Today, CivMC combines a persistent Java survival world with player-run nations, high-stakes combat, industrial production, and an expanding frontier. Its identity remains centered on the choices players make together and the lasting marks those choices leave behind.
