About Roanoke Network
Roanoke Network is a Java-only Cobblemon SMP built around catching, training and battling Pokémon inside a shared Minecraft world. You use a Fabric modpack, choose a starter, build up a Pokédex and take part in a player-run economy.
What Makes It Different
Roanoke combines a relaxed Cobblemon SMP with a serious player-run battle scene. Its no-pay-to-win policy also keeps Pokémon, crates and direct gameplay advantages out of the store.
Cobblemon is a modded Minecraft experience where players find, catch, train, and battle Pokémon-like creatures while exploring the world.
Cobblemon is the network's defining game mode and primary reason to join.
Modded Minecraft servers use game mods to add or change mechanics, content, or progression beyond the unmodified game.
Players need Java Edition, Fabric and a custom modpack.
Competitive Minecraft gameplay centers on outperforming other players in contests with a clear winner, score, or relative result.
Player gyms, tournaments and organized battle formats are major network features.
An SMP is a multiplayer Minecraft survival world where players gather resources, build, and progress alongside one another.
The main experience is shared-world survival with towns, shops and community play.
Survival servers let players gather resources, craft gear, build shelter, and develop a base while staying alive in a dangerous world.
Players explore, build, catch Pokémon and progress through survival shards.
Players catch Pokémon in the overworld, battle wild creatures, use PCs and Healing Machines, and travel between several shards. The custom Fabric pack adds quality-of-life tools, extra Pokémon content and resource-pack features. Daily kits provide basic supplies, while `/hunts` turns rare catches into timed server-wide bounties.
Pokédex completion drives long-term progression. Milestones unlock commands, extra homes, healing tools, crafting access and other conveniences. Daily and weekly research tasks provide money, items and occasional special rewards, while harder quest lines can award Mega Stones or Legendary Pokémon.
Roanoke adds custom Pokémon textures, extra resource-pack content, special islands, PokéStops, Team Rocket quest lines, themed rewards and custom minigames. Pinkan Island is a dedicated nature reserve with altered spawns, pink Pokémon textures and its own quest content.
The network uses a Spawn shard plus survival shards with different rules. Core and Prime use harder survival settings, while Haven offers a peaceful environment without hunger or hostile mobs. Players retain their inventories and Pokémon while moving between shards, and the survival worlds are built for large-scale exploration and towns.
Competitive Pokémon battles are a major part of Roanoke. Player-run gyms, gym leaders, tournaments and a competitive council create an organized battle scene alongside normal SMP play. Tournament rewards can include Roanoke Tokens and, for special events, cash prizes.
The economy uses PokeDollars and Roanoke Tokens. PokeDollars come from hunts, research tasks, selling Pokémon, shops and player trades. The GTS supports player-to-player sales, while Roanoke Tokens are reserved for higher-value rewards and cannot be transferred between players.
Weekly Pokémon tournaments sit alongside build competitions, Spleef and other community minigames. The network also runs themed quest events, including Pride content, seasonal activities and special tournaments with unusually large prizes.
The community is English-speaking and built around a mature, friendly social atmosphere. Guilds, towns, player shops, gym leaders and community-run competitions give players reasons to cooperate beyond catching Pokémon.
Breaking the rules can lead to warnings, temporary suspensions or permanent bans. In-game rules are available with `/rules`, and community guidelines are handled through the Roanoke Discord.
Roanoke follows a no-pay-to-win model and does not sell Pokémon or loot crates as direct progression shortcuts. The store focuses on cosmetics, custom textures, global rewards and supporter products that fund hosting and development.
