About MinecraftOnline
Build a home, join a settlement, and add something lasting to Freedonia. MinecraftOnline is a long-running survival server built around free building in a shared world that has remained online without a world reset or regeneration since 2010. Its current endpoint identifies the server as Java-based and running on Minecraft 1.12.2.
What Makes It Different
Freedonia's defining feature is continuity. Early settlements, transport routes, public buildings and modified landscapes remain part of the same public survival world instead of disappearing in a reset. That persistence is paired with strict anti-grief moderation, so the server aims to preserve ambitious player construction without adopting an anarchy-server ruleset.
The central experience is self-directed player construction, including homes, settlements, infrastructure, and public works.
Freedonia has remained online without restoration, regeneration, or a world reset since 2010.
Players develop homes and settlements together in a shared survival world with community infrastructure and long-term projects.
MinecraftOnline centers on gathering resources, crafting, building homes, exploring, and surviving in the shared Freedonia world.
MinecraftOnline centers on free-build survival. Players gather resources, establish homes, build settlements, connect infrastructure and contribute to a shared world where older construction remains part of the landscape. Warps and Nexus portals provide established ways to reach important places, while public works and player-created institutions give building beyond one's own base a lasting role.
Progression is largely self-directed rather than organized around seasonal resets or a conventional rank ladder. Players develop homes, settlements, shops, transport links and reputations over time, while exploration also means discovering layers of older construction and infrastructure left by previous generations of players.
MinecraftOnline uses bespoke server software and custom-made systems rather than presenting a stock survival installation. Documented features include Warps, Nexus portals, a comprehensive grief-alert and server-logging system, and tools for detecting and repairing damage to protected builds. The server also has a long-standing game-linked IRC channel connected to in-game chat.
Freedonia is a persistent survival world that first went live in 2010 and has not been restored or regenerated since. Its character comes from accumulated settlements, historical builds, railways, public infrastructure and other layers of player activity. The Freedonia Railway System is prominent enough to be featured in the official wiki, and the world functions as both a place to play and a record of the community that built it.
PvP is permitted, provided it does not become bullying. Chest looting is also permitted when players do not grief their way to the chest. The anti-grief rule remains the important boundary, and ignoring moderator warnings can result in a permanent ban rather than a temporary punishment.
Player-run shops and player-to-player trading form the practical economy, with reputation and established homes helping shape long-term participation. The available information does not establish a specific currency, tax system or shop command set.
Freedonia's community history is recorded through separate server, community and settlement timelines. Player activities have included custom diversions such as Pigchinko and Spleef, while major historical moments such as the 2020 FitMC event have become part of the server's shared story.
The community is organized around settlements, long-lived builds, public infrastructure and shared historical knowledge. The official wiki provides guides, settlement information, staff pages and timelines, while the server links a Discord community and has also maintained game-linked IRC and TeamSpeak chat for players who want to socialize outside the game.
MinecraftOnline uses a strict anti-grief policy. Its core principles are not to grief, cheat or spam, with the detailed rules allowing broad player freedom as long as behavior does not become excessive or abusive. PvP and chest looting are allowed within those limits. Players who ignore reasoned moderator warnings can receive a permanent ban.
MinecraftOnline prohibits griefing, cheating, and spam, while logging, detection, and repair tools help protect established builds.
Players can join settlements, establish homes, and contribute to communities whose buildings and institutions remain part of Freedonia.
Freedonia’s player-built railways, public buildings, transport routes, and other shared projects give construction a community-wide purpose.
The Freedonia Railway System is prominently documented as community-built transport infrastructure within the long-lived survival world.
Exploration can reveal early settlements, older construction, railways, and public works preserved as layers of Freedonia’s community history.
Documented Warps provide established ways to reach important places in Freedonia, complementing railways and Nexus portals.
Nexus portals are documented custom travel links used alongside Warps to connect important locations in Freedonia.

History of MinecraftOnline
MinecraftOnline began on 4 August 2010, the day public survival multiplayer first became available in its early form. SlowRiot created the server and Freedonia on Hemingway with RuneChan, and the community quickly reached milestones including its 1,000th unique player in September 2010 and its 10,000th in January 2011. The Nether was enabled in June 2011, while the server continued to preserve its growing world through later technical changes and migrations.
Its version history followed Minecraft from Alpha 1.0.15 through Release 1.7.10, where it remained for roughly six years. MinecraftOnline moved to 1.12.2 in April 2021 and has continued to preserve the same long-lived world rather than replacing it with a fresh season.
Freedonia's later history includes major community incidents and public attention, including the May Unrest griefer invasion of 2011 and the April Fools 2020 event associated with a FitMC video that brought the server to its historical player cap. The server timeline, community timeline and settlement timeline continue to document the world as it develops.
