About Dominion
Dominion is a long-running, whitelisted vanilla SMP where progression comes from building a life in one shared world rather than racing through custom systems. Players gather resources, build bases and districts, run shops, join community projects, and return to a world designed to preserve its history. The server is aimed at adults and keeps its rules close to Minecraft, with regular events providing more structured activities.
What Makes It Different
The main world is treated as a shared long-term place instead of a disposable season. Dominion combines that persistence with community voting, so major changes require 75% approval and large builds, districts, and shops become part of an evolving world rather than disappearing at the next reset.
Vanilla servers use Minecraftโs original blocks, items, rules, and progression without custom gameplay systems that redefine how players play.
The server retains ordinary Minecraft survival progression and explicitly avoids gameplay-heavy additions such as mcMMO, Jobs, custom mobs, and RPG systems.
A persistent world is a Minecraft server world that keeps its player-made changes and ongoing progress across repeated visits.
The main world preserves player-made builds, districts, shops, infrastructure, and history rather than following a recurring seasonal reset cycle.
Events are organized Minecraft activities that give players a distinct objective and rules for a particular occasion or limited period.
Regular PvP activities, minigames, buildathons, competitions, and collaborative projects provide recurring structured activities alongside survival.
An SMP is a multiplayer Minecraft survival world where players gather resources, build, and progress alongside one another.
Players share one long-term survival world for gathering, building, farming, exploration, and self-directed progression.
Player Shops are player-run places or interfaces where players sell items to other players for currency or agreed trade goods.
Players can open shops, stock useful resources, and trade with others throughout the shared world.
Minecraft economy gameplay makes in-game money a central way to obtain resources, upgrades, or access.
A player-driven economy supports resource trading and shop activity using vanilla Minecraft materials rather than a large custom progression economy.
Gathering, crafting, exploration, farming, combat, and building follow familiar vanilla Minecraft progression. Dominion avoids land-claim systems and gameplay-heavy additions, leaving players to protect, organize, and develop their own bases and shared districts through ordinary Minecraft tools and community agreements.
Progress is largely self-directed. Players improve gear, establish homes, expand farms and infrastructure, open shops, contribute to group builds, and explore newly expanded parts of the world. There is no RPG-style skill ladder or server-wide rank progression driving the experience.
Custom gameplay is intentionally restrained. The server avoids systems such as mcMMO, Jobs, NPC-driven progression, and custom mobs, while making only limited operational changes needed to support a larger shared world. A server modpack and technical handbook are available for players who want additional information about the setup.
The main world is persistent and intended to keep its history. Its border grew from 20,000 by 20,000 blocks at launch to 40,000 by 40,000 blocks through expansions tied to later Minecraft updates. Temporary areas may be reset when needed, but the central world is not run as a recurring seasonal reset.
PvP is not the central survival ruleset. It appears mainly through organized event content such as short PvP maps and tournaments, while the main world focuses more on building, cooperation, exploration, and player-run projects.
Dominion maintains a player-driven economy using vanilla Minecraft resources and player-run shops. Players can open shops, supply useful materials, and trade within the shared world instead of relying on a large custom server economy.
Regular events include quick PvP activities, minigames, buildathons, competitions, and larger community building projects. Events add occasional short-term goals without replacing the persistent survival world.
Dominion is an 18+ community with an explicitly LGBTQ+ friendly environment. Discord is used for applications, communication, project coordination, announcements, and community discussion. Major changes are put to a player vote and require 75% approval before being adopted.
Access is whitelist-only, with applications reviewed before entry through Discord. Players should expect a mature, collaborative environment built around shared spaces, long-term projects, and respect for other players' work.
The server offers a donator rank for players who want to help fund Dominion. The rank is cosmetic and gives no gameplay advantages beyond a colored name. Donation income and expenses are published through the server's transparency policy.
Collaborative projects are shared player efforts that coordinate building, infrastructure, districts, landmarks, or other lasting server improvements.
Players contribute to large community builds, districts, hubs, anniversary landmarks, and other projects that remain in the persistent world.
Community governance gives players structured opportunities to influence server development, feature priorities, quality-of-life changes, or shared projects.
Major Dominion changes require a community poll to reach at least 75% approval before adoption.
Whitelist access restricts server entry to approved players who have completed an application or invitation process.
Dominion requires applicants to apply through Discord and receive approval before they can enter its shared survival world.
Buildathons are organized building challenges or sessions where players create structures around a shared activity, theme, or competition.
Dominion regularly includes buildathons among its organized events, adding focused building activities without replacing survival progression.

History of Dominion
Dominion began in September 2019 with Minecraft 1.14 and a 20,000 by 20,000 block world border. The main world was expanded for the 1.18, 1.19, and 1.20 updates, bringing the current border to 40,000 by 40,000 blocks while temporary areas could still be reset when updates required it.
Over the following years, anniversary builds, community districts, shopping areas, hubs, and large collaborative projects became lasting landmarks. The sixth-anniversary build is part of the server's continuing record of community-made work rather than a seasonal reset cycle.
