About The Pen
The Pen turns the prison grind into a slow escape route. Mine raw ore, smelt it yourself, sell it at the Commissary and work through the rank ladder until Parolee opens the free world. Guards patrol the prison and enforce contraband rules, so progress mixes routine mining with the risk of being caught carrying or using forbidden gear. Season 2 is currently live, with the server still focused on old-school progression instead of instant upgrades.
What Makes It Different
The Pen makes prison roleplay part of the everyday progression loop. Ores are smelted into ingots instead of being sold instantly, prisoners travel through risky PvP areas to reach the Commissary, and Guards can attack or jail players who break the prison’s contraband rules. That combination gives routine mining a stronger sense of risk than a standard rankup server.
RankUP servers make advancing through an ordered series of in-game ranks the main progression goal.

Minecraft economy gameplay makes in-game money a central way to obtain resources, upgrades, or access.
Mining, smelting, Commissary sales, farming, quests, shops, auctions, and bounties provide central earning and spending loops.
Mining is the main starting activity. Players begin with basic tools and leather armor, gather raw ores, smelt them and sell the finished materials at the Commissary. Other routes include custom fishing, Mob Arena combat, cookie and bakery work, quests, parkour challenges, player shops and auction trading.
The current Season 2 ladder runs from A through H, followed by Parolee and Citizen. Reaching the upper ranks opens longer-term prestige progression, while Parolee lets players leave the prison and build income-producing farms in the free world.
Server-specific systems include custom fishing, prestige progression, custom enchants, illegal crops, cookie baking, Mob Arena boss waves, vaults, shards and prison-specific tracking tools. These systems add alternate progression paths without replacing the server’s mining and rankup foundation.
The main setting is a guarded prison with mines, cells, plots and controlled PvP areas. Players who reach Parolee can leave the prison for a free-world area where they can build farms and pursue different ways to earn money.
PvP is part of the server’s economy, especially when players cross dangerous areas to sell resources or pursue bounties. Inside the prison, Guards enforce restrictions on PvP, swords, potions, bows and illegal crops. Breaking those rules can lead to an attempted Guard kill or solitary confinement.
The economy revolves around mining, manual smelting and Commissary sales rather than instant selling. Players can also earn through fishing, farming, baking, quests, Mob Arena rewards and player-run shops. The auction house, bounties, rented cells and plots give players additional ways to trade, store goods and compete for money.
Parkour challenges and Mob Arena boss waves provide focused activities outside the main mining loop.
The server uses Discord as its main support and community hub. Its staff structure includes Guards, SrGuards, Wardens and SrWardens, with Guards serving both a moderation role and an in-game prison roleplay function.
Guards enforce a prison rule set that prohibits PvP, swords, potions, bows and illegal crops inside the prison. Players who break the rules may be attacked by an on-duty Guard, sent to solitary confinement or otherwise punished. Normal server rules still apply outside the prison system.
The official store sells premium ranks from VIP through Epic, plus timed boosters for Commissary sales, global money and experience. Purchases are subject to no-refund terms if a player is banned or the server closes, and package benefits may be changed after purchase.
Guard enforcement uses designated in-world authorities to patrol, police behavior, and respond to rule violations within a shared setting.

History of The Pen
The Pen was already being recommended as a small non-OP prison server in June 2024, and by October 14, 2024 its identity was firmly centered on classic prison mechanics such as manual smelting, Guards, cells, bounties and a free world after Parolee.
By 2026, the server had moved into Season 2 and expanded its progression beyond ordinary mining with prestige levels, custom fishing, Mob Arena boss waves and cookie baking. Season 3 was being prepared as a larger redesign while Season 2 remained live.
