MineRealm has been running survival since 2010, and it keeps things legit. Staff never spawn items, so every build you walk past was mined, crafted and placed by a player. You can buy and sell your own section of land and build on it without worrying about griefers.
The team writes all of its extra features itself, including the plot and realm systems that keep the world grief free. It is free, needs no sign-up or approval, and staff run random checks for griefing and hacking. The server is in English.

History of MineRealm
MineRealm opened in 2010, and its domain dates from October that year. From the start it promised legit survival, with staff never spawning items.
By September 2011 the community had its own Steam group, which listed a survival server and a creative server. Its rules then were simple: put a sign on your land to claim it, leave other people's things alone, and do not beg the mods for items.
Today the survival world is still running, with plots you can buy and sell and a realm system the team built itself.
