The name means quarantine, and the slogan promises a server that traps you. Each Survival map runs for about six months, usually until the next big Minecraft update, and players get one last chance to blow up the old world before the reset. Map 21 opened in July 2026.
There is nothing to buy here. Ranks come only from time played, from Eloton up to Kuolematon at 100 days, and each one unlocks things like the flying magic carpet or the Builder's Wand. Next to Survival you will find Creative plots and a Hub with card games, UNO, Battleship and a KitPvP island. The server and its chat are in Finnish.
What Makes It Different
Every rank is earned by playing, and the team takes no donations, so a 100-day veteran and a new player started the map with the same empty hands.

Survival is the main world, with small extras like whole trees falling when you chop the bottom log, emerald block elevators, carrying animals and friends around, and a flying magic carpet. The Hub has card games such as Paskahousu and Ristiseiska, plus UNO, Battleship and KitPvP.
Your playtime is the only thing that carries over between maps. It moves you through eight ranks, from Eloton to Kuolematon, and each rank adds commands, Creative plots, carpet colours and particle effects.
The Nether never resets and the End resets every three months. A live web map shows the current world, and staff protect your build on request.
The money is pennies. You earn 50 for each vote, sell ore blocks at the spawn shop and trade with other players through chest shops.
Holiday events such as a Christmas calendar and Easter celebrations come back most years, and the 10th birthday in 2026 had its own world full of minigames.
Griefing, stealing, killing traps, hacked clients and duping are banned, though performance mods like Sodium are fine. Keep chat friendly because younger players are online. Three warnings mean a two-week ban, and six mean a permanent one.
Free with no paid ranks or VIP. The team pays for the server itself and does not accept donations.

Chop the bottom log with an axe and the whole tree comes down, or sneak to cut one block at a time.
Chests lock as soon as you place them, and /lukitus lets you add friends or open them to everyone.
Creative gives you one plot to start and up to 12 at the top rank, with WorldEdit unlocked along the way.
Sneak-hit a chest or barrel with the item you want to sell, type a price, and your shop is open for 10 pennies.
When you die, your items wait in a small chest at the spot where you fell, and only you can open it.
Stack emerald blocks with redstone power to make a lift of up to 32 blocks: jump to go up, sneak to go down.
Simple Voice Chat works on the server, with talking unlocked after 5 hours and a linked Discord account.

History of Karanteeni
Karanteeni opened on 26 June 2016, sixteen days after the team first rented hosting, and took in players from Purolaakso, a server that was closing. The name came from the joke that once you join, you never leave.
The early years had hard knocks. In July 2018 the disk filled up without warning and the server went offline while data was rescued. In spring 2019 a host change split the modes onto separate servers.
Map 13 in July 2022 linked the servers together, and Creative came back with map 14 in January 2023 after almost four years away. The Hub opened as a surprise after the Easter event on 23 March 2024. In June 2026 the server turned ten, and map 21 opened on 18 July 2026.
