About EarthPol
EarthPol turns survival Minecraft into a living map of nations. You start as a nomad, find a region on a 1:326 Earth map, gather resources, and decide whether to stay independent or join a town.
Towns protect land and can grow into nations. Trade, treaties, tariffs, embargoes, bounties, and siege warfare give politics real weight. The result is part building game, part strategy game, and part player-made history.
What Makes It Different
EarthPol makes geography matter. Your location affects resources, travel, borders, trade routes, and military plans. A small town can survive through diplomacy, while a powerful nation can rise through trade, alliances, or war.
Geopolitical servers organize Minecraft play around player-run states that claim territory, manage borders, and compete or cooperate for influence.
Player nations, diplomacy, borders, alliances, and international conflict define the experience.
Earth servers use a Minecraft map based on real-world geography, giving building, travel, and settlement a recognizable setting of continents, countries, and cities.
The server is built around a detailed custom map of the real world.
Towny is a settlement system where players found towns, claim land, and control how residents use it.
Towny provides the settlement, land-claim, nation, and governance systems.
Survival servers let players gather resources, craft gear, build shelter, and develop a base while staying alive in a dangerous world.
Players gather resources, build, mine, explore, and survive in a persistent world.
An SMP is a multiplayer Minecraft survival world where players gather resources, build, and progress alongside one another.
The server is a shared multiplayer survival world shaped by player communities.
PvP is Minecraft gameplay centered on direct combat between players.
Open-world combat, wars, bounties, and SiegeWar are central systems.
Minecraft economy gameplay makes in-game money a central way to obtain resources, upgrades, or access.
Gold, player shops, trade routes, town finances, and economic warfare are major parts of play.
New players receive basic survival gear and a campfire. Use `/map` to find your position, gather supplies, and place the campfire to create a temporary one-chunk Towny Camp.
You can remain a nomad, join an open town, or create your own settlement. Camps last 48 hours and protect against PvP and griefing while you find a permanent home.
Creating a town costs 256 gold and requires unclaimed land. Towns gain more claim space and higher titles as their resident count grows.
A nation requires a town and 2,000 gold. Nations unite towns, manage diplomacy, build shared influence, and take part in larger conflicts.
EarthPol adds Towny-based camps, custom recipes, modified enchanting, McMMO, Brewery systems, QuickShop, TownyPorts, bounties, TradeWar, SiegeWar, and decorative sideways banner flags.
Maces and Elytra cannot be crafted or obtained. Players can store experience in bottles, and some armor enchantments work together in ways not found in standard vanilla Minecraft.
The main world is a custom Earth map at a 1:326 scale. Coastlines, rivers, mountains, cities, and other geographic features resemble their real-world locations.
Ore distribution is adjusted by region, making resource-rich areas strategically valuable. The Nether provides access to netherite but is intentionally much more dangerous.
PvP is enabled outside protected areas, so traveling through wilderness can be dangerous. Towns can control PvP in their land, and Towny Camps disable PvP and griefing during their protection period.
The Nether has no safe zones or outposts. Combat logging is also dangerous: logging out within 60 seconds of your last hit causes elimination.
Gold is the main currency. Players earn and spend it through mining, trade, town upkeep, nation growth, bounties, and player-run shops.
QuickShop chests let players buy and sell items directly. Nations can also use tariffs, sanctions, and embargoes to influence trade across their borders.
Players can host PvP, building, trivia, diplomacy, and roleplay events. Events may be open to everyone or limited to a nation or invited group, and approved activities can receive staff promotion and support.
EarthPol uses Discord as its main social hub, with an English-speaking community built around towns, nations, diplomacy, trade, wars, and shared storytelling. The server also maintains a wiki, guides, social channels, and community event spaces.
Scamming is allowed in ordinary trades, but town leaders and trusted town roles may not steal from their residents. Combat logging is punished by automatic elimination when a player logs out within 60 seconds of being hit.
EarthPol sells optional Premium subscriptions and other store products. Premium benefits include queue priority, cross-platform Discord messaging, shop staff permissions, nation color changes, name colors, nicknames, fullbright, map-color controls, and access to extra crafting commands.
Premium subscriptions are listed at $5.99 for one month, $16.99 for three months, and $64.99 for twelve months.
History of EarthPol
EarthPol launched on October 17, 2020, after 0xBit acquired the earthpol.com domain. It began as a geopolitical Minecraft sandbox built around a real-world Earth map, player settlements, and changing political relationships.
The project passed through several named eras, including Ignis, Umbra, Aether, Nebula, Lumen, and Ecliptica. Each era developed its own towns, nations, alliances, wars, and community history while keeping the Earth-map concept at its center.
0xBit remained the sole owner and lead developer through January 2024. During 2024, day-to-day leadership broadened, and ownership was formally shared by 0xBit, MrTytanic, and Bustun later that year.
Ecliptica, EarthPol's sixth major version, ran from June 21 to December 2, 2024. It placed renewed emphasis on diplomacy, regional alliances, and large-scale wars, while marking MrTytanic's first version as server owner.
Astra, the seventh major version, launched on June 7, 2025, after a six-month development cycle. The new era introduced a refreshed direction for geopolitics and community-led development. PvP became active shortly after launch, and the early Astra period quickly produced major territorial conflicts.
During July 2025, an accidental reset occurred while development and backup infrastructure were being reorganized. The project continued with later update cycles focused on balancing, bug fixes, new combat systems, flags, brewing, town progression, and quality-of-life improvements.
By February 2026, the Wilds and Wonders update had added exploration-focused systems such as NationPassports and Player Reputations, while also improving TownyPorts and the lobby. EarthPol now stands as a Java Towny server where survival, settlement building, diplomacy, trade, and war all shape the same persistent political world.
