Your first night on CartMC starts with a campfire. Set it as your camp, wait a day, then turn it into a town, claim land and start paying daily upkeep. The map is a model of Earth, so your town sits on real coastlines, plains or mountains.
Towns grow from Settlement to City State as more people move in, survey their land for resources, and band together into nations. Rivals can be squeezed with tariffs and embargoes, or fought in real wars with lives, sieges and conquered towns. Bounties, player shops, crafted guns and marriage add to the drama. Global chat is in English, and the server runs on Java.
What Makes It Different
Wars run on a token system with six war types, from a town riot to full nation against nation, and nations can also fight with tariffs, sanctions and embargoes on each other's shops.
The whole server is built around founding towns, claiming land and forming nations.
Each season is played on an Earth map, with Season 2 and 3 maps offered for download.
Town banks, upkeep, taxes, chest shops and nation trade policies.
Token-based town and nation wars with lives, sieges and bounties.
Start with a camp, upgrade it into a town after a day, and claim land around it. Towns grow through eight tiers as residents join and can form or join nations.
Town tiers run from Settlement to City State, unlocking more land and bigger resource deposits. Surveyed plots produce resources every Towny day, and higher town levels unlock richer sites.
Towns earn war tokens daily and trade them for a declaration of war. Six war types are open, from riots and civil wars to sieges and nation against nation, with lives, prisoners of war and conquered towns.
Town banks, upkeep and taxes keep money moving. Players sell goods through chest shops, and towns and nations can set tariffs, sanctions and embargoes on rivals' trade.
No griefing, stealing, traps, dupes, X-ray or minimap cave finding. Massclaiming land you do not build on can cost you your town, and NSFW builds or images are banned.
The store sells lifetime ranks, cosmetic glows, crate keys and bundles.
Towns join nations led by a King, with ministers, commanders, nation taxes and a shared resource stockpile.
A BlueMap web map shows the Earth world, and a Telegram bot reports what is happening in your town.
Chest shops let you sell goods, and towns and nations can set tariffs or embargoes on rivals' shops.
Start as a campfire camp, then grow a town through eight tiers from Settlement to City State with daily upkeep and taxes.
Put cash on a player's head, pin posters on bounty boards and track your target with a compass.

History of CartMC
After a maintenance break, CartMC reopened on 7 March 2026 with server tweaks and plans for a stronger CPU. On 31 March 2026 the Season 2 Earth map went up for anyone to download.
In late August 2026 a Telegram bot arrived that shows server and town activity from the BlueMap map. The Season 3 Earth map was posted on 25 September 2026, and in mid October 2026 the staff published a full set of guides covering towns, resources, wars, trade wars and bounties.
