About VanillaSquad
VanillaSquad is a Java survival server built around long seasonal worlds. Players gather resources, build homes and cities, run shops, explore dungeons, organize events, and shape shared projects together.
What Makes It Different
Most servers protect bases with claim commands. VanillaSquad uses visible territory markers, shared rules, CoreProtect history, and moderator action instead. Your base feels protected by the community and by the way the world is organized, not by a claim menu.
Vanilla servers use Minecraft’s original blocks, items, rules, and progression without custom gameplay systems that redefine how players play.
The server preserves normal Minecraft survival and adds mainly quality-of-life systems and light custom content.
An SMP is a multiplayer Minecraft survival world where players gather resources, build, and progress alongside one another.
Its main experience is shared multiplayer survival with cities, clans, shops, and community events.
Survival servers let players gather resources, craft gear, build shelter, and develop a base while staying alive in a dangerous world.
The server centers on high-difficulty survival, gathering, building, exploration, and player projects.
Minecraft economy gameplay makes in-game money a central way to obtain resources, upgrades, or access.
Diamond ore is used as currency, with player shops, rentals, minimum prices, and organized trading.
The main activity is classic survival on the highest difficulty. Build a base, gather materials, explore structures, trade with other players, and join a city, clan, guild, or independent project.
Progress comes from normal survival, player trade, exploration, technical builds, and world expansion. Players can spend gathered resources to enlarge supported worlds through the `/upgradeworld` menu.
Light custom systems add drinks with discovery-based recipes, automatically refreshed dungeon loot, invisible frames, protected maps and books, custom paintings, editable armor stands, music tools, item naming, and optional personal effects. Some features require the Union or Union+ support tiers.
The network has a Build World for homes, cities, events, and large projects; a Farm World for resource production and automation; and an Art World for pixel art and decorative builds. The Build World is listed at 15,000 by 15,000 blocks for the current season.
Unwanted player killing is forbidden. A player who ignores a clear request to leave private territory for two minutes can be killed without a compensation fee. Events involving combat must warn participants first, while moderator-supervised PvP arenas are allowed.
Diamond ore, called ar, is the main currency. Players run shops, trade through cities, rent approved commercial spaces, and use barter with other ores. Minimum prices can apply to selected goods, and market manipulation, artificial shortages, and real-money trading are prohibited.
Events include player-organized contests, social games, city activities, seasonal story events, and a weekly head auction. The current head auction runs on Sundays and uses player and collectible heads as prizes and trade items.
Discord is the main social and support hub. New players must link their Minecraft account to Discord with a four-digit code after joining. Cities, clans, guilds, shops, events, and optional proximity voice chat give players many ways to meet and cooperate.
Cheating, griefing, stealing, duping, traps, destructive behavior, unauthorized PvP, and harmful automation are prohibited. The rules also control territory spacing, farms, shops, public areas, dungeon chests, advertising, and event conduct.
The official store sells Union and Union+ subscriptions, seasonal badges, cosmetic options, and other support products. Benefits focus on customization, chat and item tools, map visibility, effects, and convenience; Union also provides priority access when the server is full. Combat gear and resource advantages are not sold.

History of VanillaSquad
VanillaSquad launched on December 28, 2019, as a private survival project. From the beginning, it aimed to keep Minecraft close to its vanilla roots while adding useful server systems rather than changing the character of survival play.
As the project developed, it built an identity around light, practical additions. These included custom drinks, item protection, custom paintings, invisible frames, music tools, and world expansion. The additions broadened the experience without replacing its vanilla foundation.
VanillaSquad also grew into an organized project with administrators, developers, technical staff, managers, and moderators. Moderators were selected from active players, connecting day-to-day community participation with the server’s ongoing management.
The project reached its 10th anniversary season in October 2024. After that season, VanillaSquad moved toward annual summer season cycles, giving its survival world a more regular rhythm of renewal and development.
The 11th season began in July 2025 and continued until its scheduled finale on May 16, 2026. This season marked another stage in the server’s seasonal structure while preserving the survival-focused identity established at launch.
The 12th season continued that direction with a developing custom VanillaSquad resource pack. Alongside the new season, the project continued regular updates to the server, plugins, rules, and interfaces.
Today, VanillaSquad remains a vanilla-oriented survival server shaped by seasonal progression, small gameplay enhancements, active community staffing, and continued technical development. Its dedicated interactive map is available at map.vanillasquad.com, while the server operates at mc.vanillasquad.com.
