About The Old Frontier
The Old Frontier is a persistent fantasy roleplay server built around character-driven stories, settlement life, exploration, and player choice. Players create characters from different races and classes, develop professions, form relationships, pursue quests, and help shape a shared world through everyday roleplay, politics, trade, conflict, and scheduled events.
What Makes It Different
The Old Frontier treats roleplay as an ongoing world rather than a one-off civilization event or short season. Character creation, races, classes, settlements, professions, quests, archaeology, magic, and player-driven politics all connect to stories that continue between major events.
The server presents a persistent fantasy world with playable races, classes, magic, lore, and custom locations.
Character creation, relationships, player-driven stories, politics, and staff-supported narratives are central to the server.
Players create characters using nine custom classes that shape character development and play style.
Characters, settlements, relationships, and stories continue across visits rather than ending with a short event or season.
Characters advance through classes, professions, quests, equipment, exploration, and combat challenges.
Custom quests provide tracked or narrative objectives within progression and exploration.
Exploration, dungeons, archaeology, custom locations, hidden lore, and quests create a substantial discovery-focused experience.
Gameplay combines survival activities with character-focused roleplay. Players explore, gather resources, craft equipment, develop professions, establish settlements, trade with others, investigate lore, and take part in player-created conflicts or staff-supported storylines.
Progression begins with character creation and expands through custom races, classes, professions, equipment, settlement development, quests, exploration, and relationships. Advancement is tied as much to the choices and ambitions of a character as to ordinary Minecraft resources.
Custom content includes 18 playable races, 9 custom classes, professions, custom crafting and equipment, settlements with NPCs and infrastructure, custom quests, dungeons, mobs, locations, archaeology, magic, player-created paintings and music, and messenger birds. No modpack is required.
The server takes place in a persistent fantasy world with player settlements, custom locations, dungeons, historical mysteries, archaeological discoveries, and lore that players uncover through exploration and roleplay.
PvP is part of the wider roleplay rather than the server’s main attraction. Politics, rivalries, faction-style disputes, and player-created conflicts can turn social decisions into combat.
The economy grows out of professions, gathering, crafting, trade, and settlement life. Players can create value through the work their characters perform and use exchanges with other players to support broader goals.
Scheduled events add larger story moments, while roleplay continues through everyday encounters, settlement activity, trade, exploration, politics, player-created conflicts, and staff-supported narratives.
The community is organized around ongoing character relationships and shared stories rather than isolated matches. New players can enter the tutorial before completing the application needed for full participation, with Discord serving as the main community hub.
