About Terraconia
Last updated
After a short tutorial, the NPC Dostya hands you a free apartment for up to seven days. Then you rent or buy a plot in one of the player cities, earn money from jobs in the farm worlds and from trading, and start building on two hand-built main worlds with real-looking continents.
Terraconia is a German-speaking Java server that has been online for twelve years. Cities are the big goal: they cost a lot to found and level up, so players team up to build them. Fights happen in the wilds outside towns, while weekly minigame nights and seasonal events bring everyone together.
What Makes It Different
Its own city system turns towns into shared projects that level up with money, land, tenants and buildings, unlocking things like mob protection, no PvP and a city chat.
Players found and level up cities with plots, tenants and upgrades.
Jobs, player trading, shops and costly city upgrades.
Survival on two hand-built main worlds with resetting farm worlds.
You can build anywhere on the two main worlds, from a small hut in the wild to a whole city. Buying land protects what you build, and the farm worlds are where you mine and gather so the main worlds stay clean.
Both main worlds are built by hand with realistic continents instead of normal generated terrain. Separate farm worlds are reset regularly so there are always fresh resources.
Terraconia is not mainly a PvP server, but PvP stays on in the wilderness so survival keeps some danger. Fighting is blocked at important places like the department store, and cities can switch PvP off once they level up.
Money comes from jobs in the farm worlds, from voting for the server and from selling goods to other players. Cities can even open shops that compete with the public department store.
Weekly minigame events run on their own event world at 20:00. Seasonal events include Valentine's Day, an Easter building contest and a Christmas advent calendar made with help from the community.
The community is German-speaking and includes players of all ages, including families. There is an active forum, a TeamSpeak server and a team of about 25 to 30 people, with programmers who build many of the server's systems themselves.
Respectful behavior is required, and insults and harassment are not tolerated. The server has its own rulebook, a community etiquette page and a list of allowed client mods.

History of Terraconia
Terraconia has been online since 2014. Its Easter tradition began that year with a longer event on the old fun server, and by 2015 Easter had turned into a building contest.
The community ran its own magazine for years and reached issue 30 in January 2022. In February 2025 a dev blog introduced a new quest plugin for the server.
2026 shows how Terraconia runs today. The events team took a summer break until 30 August, a community poll kept event nights at 20:00, and in October the call went out for helpers on the traditional advent calendar.
