EnglishAbout Straight Up
Last updated
Straight Up drops you at a random spot up to 2,500 blocks from the middle of a world that has been played since 2019. There is no safe spawn, no land claims and no teleport requests. Griefing, stealing and PvP are allowed, so you build far out and keep quiet about where.
It is a Java survival server kept close to vanilla, on Hard difficulty with Large Biomes. The anti-cheat blocks hacked clients but never bans anyone, and only a third of players need to sleep to skip the night. Old ruins and builds from past years are still standing out there.
What Makes It Different
The same overworld has been played without a reset since April 2019, so the map is full of bases and ruins from years of players.
Kept close to vanilla, with only a few small tweaks.
One shared world where everyone builds, trades and fights.
Hard difficulty survival on a world that has not been reset since 2019.
You start with a small kit and walk out into a huge Hard difficulty world. Kill another player and their head drops, and eating a cookie keeps Phantoms away for a few nights.
The world border sits at one million blocks from the centre. When the world file grows too big, chunks that players barely visited are trimmed so fresh terrain can generate, and backups are kept for 45 days.
PvP, griefing and raiding are allowed everywhere, including spawn. There is no claim system to protect your stuff.
Ownership has passed between long-time players since the start, and the current owner is the only staff member in game.
The rule list is short: no lagging or crashing the server, no sharing personal info, no item duping, no advertising and no evading punishments. Cheaters are stopped by the anti-cheat instead of being banned.
There is no store, and the server does not take donations.
Stealing from and wrecking other bases is allowed, so a hidden base is your real defence.
The world runs on Hard difficulty with Large Biomes, inside a one million block border.
There are no claims and no teleport requests, so you travel on foot and protect builds yourself.
Finishing every advancement earns you a dragon egg of your own.
The overworld has been played without a reset since April 1, 2019.
You can pin three stats of your choice next to your name in chat, with your rank for each.
PvP is on everywhere, with no protected spawn, and a player kill drops your victim's head.
Optional proximity voice chat works if you add the Simple Voice Chat mod.

History of Straight Up
ImpDude started Straight Up on April 1, 2019, as a passion project. The world he opened that day is the same one players walk today.
In December 2021 the server hardware failed badly. ImpDude stepped down and handed the saved world to Savant27, a player and Discord moderator since 2019, who paid for dedicated hosting and ran it for three years. Around the 1.18 update, rarely visited chunks were trimmed so new terrain could generate near spawn.
In December 2024 Eismeister, who joined in 2019 and set up the Discord, took over as owner and stopped playing to run it.
