Nerdcrafteria is the Minecraft home of the Nerdfighter community, owned by Hank Green of the Vlogbrothers. You start in the Hub, accept the Code of Conduct, then head to the monster-free Main world, where towns grow, players buy plots and shops trade goods. A fresh Explore world each month is where you mine, fight in the Nether and End and bring supplies back.
There is more when you want a change: seasonal Survival challenges, Skyblock with build contests, 256 by 256 Creative plots and minigames like Hide and Seek and Build Battle. It is Java only, chat is in English, and the rule everyone learns first is DFTBA.
What Makes It Different
Hank Green pays for the server himself, and players are asked to donate to the Foundation to Decrease Worldsuck instead.
Claim a 256 by 256 plot in the Creative world to build or test.
A Skyblock world with seasonal challenges, leaderboards and build contests.
Hide and Seek, The Bridge, Build Battle and Parkour have their own world.
Main and Explore are survival worlds, plus a seasonal Survival world with challenges.
You earn money from shops and spend it on plots in the Main world.
Main is the long-term world for towns and plots, and Explore resets every month for fresh resources. Survival runs in seasons with world-wide challenges, such as Headhunters and a Block Museum Heist.
You earn money by selling to the admin shop or to other players, then spend it on plots in Main. Voting earns Fishing Boat Proceeds for the vote shop, which has tags, spawn eggs, pets and boons.
Staff run town reveals, birthday weekends every September and Secret Llama, a gift swap where each player is matched with two others.
The community calls itself family-friendly and keeps content at a PG-13 level. A Head Administrator runs the staff team, and monthly newsletters share news and maintenance times.
Griefing, stealing and killing passive mobs like llamas are not allowed. PvP only happens in arenas or game worlds staff set up. Plots left untouched for two months can be reclaimed after a mail warning.
Free to play. Donations go to charity and give in-game rewards right away.
Players run shops in the Main world and sell goods they gathered in Explore to each other.
Each Survival season adds a world-wide challenge, like Headhunters or the Block Museum Heist.
Voting earns Fishing Boat Proceeds, which you spend in the vote shop on tags, spawn eggs, pets and boons.
The admin shop at the ashop warp buys items from you, which is how many players save up for their first plot.
Secret Llama gift swaps, town reveals and a birthday weekend each September bring players together.
The Explore world resets every month, so you always have fresh land to mine before taking it back to Main.
Skyblock seasons end in build contests, with past themes like Treehouses, Sky Village and Jurassic Caves.
Griefing, stealing and even killing someone's llama are against the rules, and PvP is only allowed in set arenas.
In the Creative world you can claim a 256 by 256 plot for private projects or big builds others can visit.

History of Nerdcrafteria
Hank Green founded Nerdcrafteria in September 2012 as a server by Nerdfighters, for Nerdfighters.
In May 2020 staff announced a full reset. The old 1.13 server closed with a send-off party on June 13, 2020, players could ask staff to move a sentimental chest over, and new worlds opened on 1.15.2 on June 20, 2020.
The 2026 road map brought a new staff town in June, and in July 2026 players were sent to explore the ancient town of Cencielo in the northeast mountains. The server turned 14 on September 16, 2026, with a weekend of events.
