About Minebench
Last updated
Minebench drops you into a 10,000 by 10,000 block Freebuild world on Hard, and most of the map is yours to build on. To get started you answer a short rules quiz in a book, get unlocked as a newcomer, and after a week of play you become a full player who can build in the theme worlds. Chat is in German.
Next to the main world sit separate Skyblock and Creative servers, a farm world that resets every night and an End that resets every Wednesday. You earn Benches, the server money, by playing and voting, then trade through chest shops. Minebench sells no paid extras at all.
What Makes It Different
Minebench has run since June 2011 and has never sold paid extras; the owners and gifts from players keep it going.
A separate Creative server for testing builds and redstone before building them in survival.
A separate Skyblock server is reached from the lobby.
The main mode is survival freebuild on Hard in a large shared world.
Benches are earned by playing and voting and spent in player chest shops.
Survival on Hard in a big Freebuild world, with the Nether scaled 2:1 instead of 8:1. Custom item pipes move and sort items along coloured glass lines, and small items open a crafting grid or your Ender Chest from your hand.
You start as a guest, unlock yourself with the rules quiz and become a newcomer. After a week and three hours of play you are a full player, and long-time regulars can become Stammis with 10 homes and building rights in the Stammi creative worlds.
The Freebuild world keeps growing with updates, while the farm areas and the ocean monument worlds reset every night so resources stay fresh. Sand, sandstone and terracotta come from the farm world only.
Benches are the server money. You get 8 for every active hour, more for voting for the server, and you can sell items to other players through chest shops.
Event managers run Spleef, building contests where the winners get VIP plots at spawn, and a horror house haunted by the server ghost Lucy_Lamplight.
No griefing, X-ray or other see-through mods, and no mob farms, item farms or redstone clocks to keep the server running smoothly. Animals are limited to about 10 per chunk and must have enough space, and players must cut down whole trees and replant them.
Completely free. The rules state that no extra rights are sold for real money.
Web maps show the Freebuild and Creative worlds, plus an archive of older maps.
Event managers run building contests where the winners get VIP plots at spawn.
The survival world runs on Hard with monsters on, so nights and caves stay dangerous.
Staff protect finished builds as regions on request, and every block change is logged to sort out griefing.
Voting for the server gives you extra Benches on top of the 8 you earn each active hour.
A custom pipes plugin moves and sorts items through coloured glass lines without walls of hoppers.
Newcomers become full players after a week and three hours of play, and long-time regulars can become Stammis.
Chests, doors, dispensers and furnaces can be locked so only you can open them.
Players sell their items to each other through chest shops for Benches, the server money.

History of Minebench
Minebench opened in June 2011 and calls itself one of the oldest German survival freebuild communities. From the start it has been free to play, paid for by its owners and gifts from players.
The team still moves the main world forward with each Minecraft release. The 26.2 update on 29 July 2026 pushed the Freebuild world further north. In September 2026 the servers opened to 26.3 clients, and the full 26.3 update on 7 October 2026 brought a poplar tree farm, another world expansion and the new cushions and wool and concrete stairs.
In October 2026 the team also fixed the nightly reset of the farm areas and named new Stammis for their long, active playtime.
