About Cobblemon Rivals
Cobblemon Rivals combines Minecraft survival with a large Pokémon progression system. Players catch, train, breed, trade, and battle Pokémon while building bases, exploring the world, and protecting land with claims.
The server is built around a central Pokémon-themed hub and several survival realms. Gyms, the Elite Four, raids, bosses, hunts, tournaments, and trading give players goals beyond ordinary mining and building. The result feels closer to a persistent multiplayer Pokémon adventure than a small private Cobblemon world.
What Makes It Different
Cobblemon Rivals makes Pokémon progression part of everyday Minecraft survival instead of separating it into a tiny battle mode. You can build a home, switch between different realms, clear an eight-gym ladder, trade Pokémon, and join group raids in the same long-running network.
Cobblemon is a modded Minecraft experience where players find, catch, train, and battle Pokémon-like creatures while exploring the world.
The server’s core progression revolves around catching, training, breeding, battling, and collecting Pokémon through Cobblemon systems.
PvE is Minecraft gameplay centered on surviving and overcoming enemies and hazards controlled by the game rather than by other players.
NPC gyms, the Elite Four, wild bosses, raid bosses, hunts, and other non-player battles provide major objectives.
An SMP is a multiplayer Minecraft survival world where players gather resources, build, and progress alongside one another.
The network provides persistent multiplayer survival realms centered on shared exploration, building, trading, and social play.
Survival servers let players gather resources, craft gear, build shelter, and develop a base while staying alive in a dangerous world.
Players gather materials, craft, build bases, explore survival realms, and progress through ordinary Minecraft survival alongside Pokémon goals.
Install the Cobblemon Rivals Fabric pack, join the Java server, and begin in the Pokémon-themed hub. From there, players can travel to survival realms, heal and manage Pokémon at the Pokémon Center, visit the daycare, use training areas, and teleport to major activities.
The normal play loop mixes Minecraft tasks with Pokémon goals. Gather materials, craft Poké Balls, catch wild Pokémon, improve your team, explore for rare finds, and return to the hub for battles, trading, or progression challenges.
The main NPC progression includes eight gyms with increasing difficulty. Completing the gym circuit unlocks the Elite Four challenge.
Further goals include battle towers, Pokédex ranks, dex rewards, breeding, EV training, TMs, legendary Pokémon, raid rewards, hunts, fossils, and rare Pokémon variants. Players can follow the trainer path or focus on collecting, building, trading, or competitive team building.
Custom content includes Mega Evolution, Tera and Dynamax features, rideable Pokémon, custom Pokémon skins, wild bosses, raid bosses, custom NPCs, lures, move tutors, fossils, catch combos, hunts, trainer parks, EV parks, cosmetics, player particles, kits, and Pokémon-themed hub areas.
Cobblemon Rivals uses several survival realms with different difficulty styles, including peaceful, easy, and hard options. Each realm has its own Nether, while Pokémon progress can be shared across the network.
A separate resource realm provides renewable gathering space and resets weekly. Land claims are handled per realm, so a claim made in one realm does not protect land in another. Optional custom terrain generation adds a more varied landscape than standard Minecraft terrain.
Player battles, tournaments, and competitive matches are available alongside NPC battles. The server has also been used for structured cups with a ranked ruleset and Pokémon restrictions.
PvP is most appealing after players have trained a strong team and learned the server's battle rules. Casual players can spend most of their time in survival and PvE content instead.
The economy includes markets and a Global Trade System for buying and selling Pokémon and items. Players can list Pokémon or items, search other listings, and collect earnings from completed sales.
Trading gives rare catches, breeding results, battle items, and event rewards value beyond their original source.
Server events include tournaments, competitive cups, Pokémon hunts, raids, and seasonal or community activities. Raids begin with a Raid Starter item, allow multiple players to join before the timer ends, and can reward a special catching phase after the boss is defeated.
Cobblemon Rivals has an English-speaking Discord community built around multiplayer play, trading, support, tournaments, creator activity, and general Cobblemon discussion. The server suits players who enjoy seeing other trainers, comparing teams, and finding people to play with regularly.
Land claims protect selected areas, but claims are realm-specific. Keep-inventory is enabled, reducing the cost of ordinary deaths. Player battles and competitive events use their own battle rules and restrictions.
Joining and playing are free. The official store sells ranks, rank upgrades, crate keys, cosmetic keys, claim blocks, and a supporter subscription.
Store purchases can affect convenience, cosmetics, claims, and access to reward items. Players who want a strictly equal progression path should review the available perks before investing heavily in competitive play.
Gym progression guides trainers through organized Pokémon battles against gym leaders, typically unlocking milestones toward advanced trainer challenges.
Cobblemon Rivals has eight NPC gyms with increasing difficulty, and completing the circuit unlocks the Elite Four challenge.
A Global Trade System is a server-wide interface for listing, discovering, and exchanging collectible creatures or items.
The server’s GTS lets players list Pokémon and items, search other listings, and collect earnings from completed sales.
A raid mechanic where defeating a powerful encounter leads to a dedicated opportunity to attempt its capture.
Players join raids started with Raid Starter items, defeat the raid Pokémon, and enter a special capture phase using raid balls.
Pokémon breeding lets players produce new Pokémon offspring while pursuing desired species, traits, abilities, moves, or competitive potential.
Players breed Pokémon as part of collection and competitive team building, though breeding can require substantial time and resources.
Elite Four challenges are a late-stage sequence of demanding Pokémon battles that follows regional gym progression.
The Elite Four becomes available after players complete Cobblemon Rivals’ eight-gym progression.
EV training improves a Pokémon’s battle-oriented attributes through deliberate preparation, allowing players to specialize teams for particular roles or matchups.
EV parks and training areas support improving Pokémon for stronger competitive teams and structured battles.
A separate resource-focused world that periodically refreshes to provide renewable gathering opportunities without replacing the main world.
The resource realm resets weekly with a new seed each Friday, while players’ main realm bases remain separate.
Rideable Pokémon allow players to use selected Pokémon as mounts for traversal through the Minecraft world.
The server supports rideable Pokémon, adding Pokémon-based travel to its survival and exploration experience.
Multiple shared worlds with different difficulty settings that let players choose a more relaxed or demanding survival experience.
Cobblemon Rivals offers peaceful, easy, and hard survival realms, each with its own Nether and claims.
Mega Evolution temporarily transforms eligible Pokémon into stronger or altered battle forms during supported encounters.
Mega Evolution is one of the server’s supported Pokémon gimmicks for team building and battles.
Pokédex ranks reward players for recording increasing numbers or milestones of collected Pokémon.
Cobblemon Rivals includes Pokédex ranks and dex rewards for players who expand their recorded Pokémon collection.
Dynamax is a Pokémon battle mechanic that temporarily enlarges a creature and changes the scale or power of combat.
Dynamax is available as one of Cobblemon Rivals’ custom Pokémon gimmicks.
Terastallization is a Pokémon battle mechanic that changes a Pokémon’s battle form or type-related strategy for a fight.
Cobblemon Rivals includes Tera features among its custom Pokémon battle systems.
Keep inventory preserves a player’s carried items after death, reducing the ordinary survival penalty for dying.
Keep-inventory is enabled, reducing the loss associated with routine survival deaths while players explore and build.
Pokémon hunts are time-limited or rotating collection challenges focused on locating or obtaining specified Pokémon targets.
Cobblemon Rivals runs Pokémon hunts alongside raids, tournaments, and other recurring activities.
Characters or systems that teach Pokémon specific moves outside their ordinary level-based learning progression.
Players can use move tutors as part of preparing Pokémon for collection goals and competitive battles.
Catch combos reward consecutive or repeated successful captures, encouraging focused Pokémon hunting sessions.
Catch combos are included among the server’s custom Pokémon progression systems.
A collection and progression system involving fossil items that can be used to obtain or restore Pokémon.
Fossils are available as part of the server’s expanded Pokémon collection content.

History of Cobblemon Rivals
Cobblemon Rivals first appeared as a private Fabric 1.20.1 Cobblemon project in July 2024. Its early identity centered on Pokémon teams, gym battles, an Elite Four, a champion challenge, and a social player community.
The main Cobblemon Rivals Discord community was created on October 29, 2024. During this early period, the project moved toward a broader public network with custom systems for survival, Pokémon progression, trading, claims, and competitive play.
The public network took shape in spring 2025. A dedicated Fabric modpack for Minecraft 1.21.1 released in March, and the server became publicly accessible at the Java address play.cobblemonrivals.com. The network offered a public survival experience rather than the earlier private-server format.
During 2025, Cobblemon Rivals expanded into a multi-realm network. Players gained access to different difficulty styles, realm-specific claims, resource-world gameplay, shared Pokémon progression, gyms, raids, markets, and larger social spaces. A creator-led Rivals SMP also brought the server to a wider Minecraft and Cobblemon audience during the middle of the year.
The client pack continued through releases 1.1 in September 2025, 1.7.1 in December 2025, and 1.7.3 in February 2026. These releases kept the server tied to a Fabric-based Minecraft 1.21.1 client experience, while the server supported Minecraft 1.21.6.
Today, Cobblemon Rivals is a large Java Cobblemon survival network focused on collecting, team building, exploration, social trading, structured gym progression, raids, and long-term multiplayer play.
