About Ancients
Ancients is a prison server set in Tartarus, the underworld of Greek mythology. Mining drives the early game, while prestiges, pickaxe upgrades, custom gear and combat give the grind more depth than a simple rank ladder.
The live Tartarus map changes between seasons. Map III focuses on Uber bosses, unique drops, jewels, Tartarus Prestige and rebuilt progression paths. Players also compete through gangs, cells, outposts, PvP and leaderboard rewards.
Ancients is part of a wider three-civilization plan. Greece is the active realm, while Egypt and Norse are reserved for later eras.
What Makes It Different
Ancients ties its prison gameplay to a Greek-underworld setting and treats each map as a new chapter. Map III is especially different because it removed several older systems and rebuilt the endgame around jewels, Tartarus Prestige, Wounds of Erebus and Uber boss drops.
Prison servers turn mining into a gated progression ladder: players break blocks in designated mines, sell the resources, and spend their earnings on ranks that unlock more valuable areas.
Prison mining, ranks, prestiges and Tartarus progression are the server's central gameplay structure.
Bosses are unusually powerful Minecraft enemies that demand more preparation and deliberate combat than ordinary mobs.
Map III places Uber bosses and unique boss drops at the center of its endgame.
PvP is Minecraft gameplay centered on direct combat between players.
Gang conflict, KOTH and competitive combat are major parts of progression.
Minecraft economy gameplay makes in-game money a central way to obtain resources, upgrades, or access.
Mining, selling, Obols, auctions, AFK rewards and gang payouts drive the server economy.
Mining is the main engine of the server. Ores, meteorite blocks, energy and sell value feed rank progress, pickaxe upgrades and prestige goals. Outside the mines, players use cells, gangs, outposts, boss areas, the auction house and the AFK Shop to keep their progression moving.
Progression is seasonal rather than permanent. The Tartarus Pass has 50 levels, daily challenges and five weekly challenge sets. Every level has a free reward, while the paid track adds stronger items and seasonal quality-of-life perks such as extra homes, vault space, AFK capacity and Rift bonuses.
Custom content includes jewels, custom enchants, meteorite mining, path perks, Tartarus Prestige, boss-specific drops and the optional PrisonsMod companion mod. Simple Voice Chat can add proximity voice and private group calls.
Tartarus is the active world, built around the Greek underworld and its districts. The network also uses areas such as Polis and the Ancient Roads, with cells, mines, boss locations, outposts and combat zones connected across the map.
PvP is tied closely to gang competition. Players can fight for KOTH rewards, protect gang interests, compete on Gang Top and take part in combat around contested areas. Combat tagging, anti-exploit rules and full-loot PvP systems are part of the competitive design.
Mining supplies the main flow of money and energy. Obols are used for upgrades and rewards, while the auction house, AFK Shop, rotating loot and gang payouts create other ways to build wealth. Calcite is used as part of the auction-house system.
Seasonal Tartarus Pass challenges, KOTH fights, boss encounters, Gang Top competitions and rotating reward activities give players reasons to return beyond ordinary mining. Weekly gang payouts add a longer-term competitive target.
The Discord is the main social hub for support, reports, suggestions, event information and server announcements. In-game gang systems and optional proximity voice chat make group play a major part of the experience.
Ancients uses 14 server-wide laws covering hacked clients, blacklisted mods, macros, exploits, duplication, harassment, advertising, doxing, scamming, IRL trading, chargebacks, impersonation, gang insiding and investigation evasion. Hacked clients, automation and duplication can lead to severe IP bans. Gang members are expected to use permissions properly, and leaving while frozen during an investigation can result in a permanent ban.
The server has an official store for cosmetics, ranks and supporter perks. The Tartarus Pass includes a free reward track and a paid track. Paid-pass rewards include seasonal quality-of-life boosts such as extra home slots, personal vault space, AFK capacity, AFK rate and Rift-point bonuses.

History of Ancients
Ancients began as a fast pre-pre-alpha prison build. The first working version was assembled in under a week, with friends helping create mines, warps, outposts and KOTH content.
The project then moved through its Alpha 1 period, which ran during 2025 and into March 2026. That testing era shaped the first full Tartarus map and established the server's mining, prestige, gang and combat foundation.
The first full map era expanded the prison loop with systems such as merchants, custom progression, boss encounters, cells, gangs and seasonal rewards. Tartarus became more than a set of rankup mines, with several connected areas and activities feeding into the same economy.
On May 23, 2026, patch v1.0.4 added major cross-cluster improvements. Commands and chat worked across Core, Polis and Roads, while cells, gangs, bosses, the Tartarus Rift, the Season Pass and the optional PrisonsMod received substantial changes.
Four days later, v1.0.11 added Simple Voice Chat support and weekly Gang Top Obol payouts. Boss announcements, enchant balance and pickaxe trims were also refined during this period.
Map III began on August 21, 2026. It rebuilt the server around Uber bosses and unique drops, the jewel system, Wounds of Erebus, the Bound Shade, a redesigned Calcite Wormhole, refreshed path perks, Leech changes and Tartarus Prestige. Dungeons, runes, white scrolls, LMS, caravans and enchant erasers were removed in the same transition.
Ancients now presents Tartarus as the active Greek realm in a larger network planned around Greece, Egypt and Norse mythology. The current map is designed around seasonal progression, competitive gangs, boss hunting and a continually changing prison endgame.
