About BetaMC
BetaMC brings back Java Beta 1.7.3, but adds enough structure to make the world feel alive. Players leave the protected Spawn Town, claim villages, earn money, open shops, and build with or against established communities.
The wilderness is not completely safe. PvP and griefing are allowed outside protected areas, while towns, shrines, and Spawn Town give players places to protect. Hidden shrines, player-run markets, duels, bounties, auctions, and community events give the old version more to do than a plain vanilla server.
What Makes It Different
BetaMC feels like old Minecraft with a player-made society layered on top. You can hunt for hidden shrines, grow a village into a larger settlement, run a shop, or put a bounty on a rival instead of following one fixed path.
Semi-Vanilla servers keep Minecraft’s ordinary survival progression while adding a limited set of server-specific changes around it.
The server keeps Beta 1.7.3 survival at its core while adding a focused set of plugins.
Arena gameplay puts players into bounded battlegrounds for discrete fights or challenges, with each bout ending in a win, loss, elimination, or completed objective.
ArenaFighter supplies a dedicated duel arena with stats, spectators, betting, and leaderboards.
Player Shops are player-run places or interfaces where players sell items to other players for currency or agreed trade goods.
The Mall and ChestShop system make player-run stores a major part of the economy.
Survival servers let players gather resources, craft gear, build shelter, and develop a base while staying alive in a dangerous world.
The server is built around shared Beta 1.7.3 survival gameplay.
An SMP is a multiplayer Minecraft survival world where players gather resources, build, and progress alongside one another.
Players share one ongoing survival world with bases, towns, shops, and community projects.
Minecraft economy gameplay makes in-game money a central way to obtain resources, upgrades, or access.
Currency, Admin Shops, ChestShops, auctions, banks, and player-owned warps are central systems.
PvP is Minecraft gameplay centered on direct combat between players.
Wilderness PvP, arena duels, betting, and player bounties provide several combat paths.
Land claims are protected areas that let a player or group control who can build, break, and interact with blocks inside a marked part of the world.
The village system protects claimed chunks and supports invited members and assistants.
Towny is a settlement system where players found towns, claim land, and control how residents use it.
Player-created villages and towns, protected territory, membership roles, and settlement growth are central to play.
New players spawn at Spawn Castle in protected Spawn Town. Use `/wild` to reach the wilderness, then create a village to claim land and invite other builders. Villages grow through member tiers, from Tribe to Settlement, Town, City, and larger community sizes.
Players begin with five home locations and can buy more with in-game money. The Admin Shop, Mall, player warps, and ChestShops make travel and trading part of everyday survival.
Progress comes from building a village, earning money, improving your home network, finding rare shrines, and becoming part of the player economy. A village claim starts with one chunk, while extra chunks cost money from the village balance.
Long-term goals include growing a community, opening a profitable shop, buying a public warp, collecting unusual items, and building enough wealth to influence the shared world.
The server adds homegrown systems without replacing the Beta 1.7.3 foundation. Village claims provide land protection and ranks, while Shrines, ArenaFighter, Auctioneer, Hitman, banks, extra home slots, and player warps extend the old survival rules.
Other unusual touches include spectator betting in arena fights, item-for-item ChestShop trading, slot machines, and the ability to use ChestShops to stack items that normally cannot stack.
BetaMC uses a shared overworld with a square border roughly 50,000 blocks from spawn in each direction. The large world contains player towns, roads, shops, landmarks, and hidden structures.
Twenty-four shrines are scattered through the overworld. Each shrine sells normally unobtainable vanilla items such as fire, tall grass, redstone wire, or diamond ore, turning exploration into a community treasure hunt.
PvP is allowed in the wilderness, but protected areas such as towns, shrines, and Spawn Town have different safety rules. Players can also use the dedicated ArenaFighter system for structured duels.
Arena fights use a countdown, save and restore inventories, track wins and losses, support spectators, and maintain leaderboards. The Hitman plugin adds another layer by letting players place bounties on targets for others to collect.
Money comes from activities such as killing hostile mobs, selling materials to the Admin Shop, and trading with other players. The Mall provides protected space for player-run ChestShops, while auctions allow players to sell a held item stack quickly.
ChestShops can handle normal currency sales and item-for-item trades. The server also has banks, player-owned warps, an Admin Shop, and special stores connected to the wider town economy.
Community events are part of the server's social calendar. BetaMC also has a Hunger Games mode with separate rules against teaming and alternate-account stat farming.
Towns are the center of social life. Players can join an existing village, open a stall in the Mall, build public warps, trade through ChestShops, and contribute to shared landmarks.
The Discord is used for community discussion and server news. The wiki also contains town pages, plugin guides, staff information, landmarks, and player-created lore.
Cheating, hacked clients, X-ray, autoclickers, exploit abuse, duplication, ban evasion, impersonation, spam, harassment, slurs, and real-money trades for in-game items are prohibited. Public chat is English-only, while private messages may use other languages.
Griefing and PvP are allowed in the wilderness. They are not allowed in protected areas such as Spawn Town, shrines, and claimed towns. Public mob farms are prohibited; claimed farms must restrict use to trusted assistants.
Donations are optional and handled through Ko-fi. The $15 CAD Donator rank mainly provides cosmetic and convenience perks such as `/nick`, `/hat`, colored chat and signs, custom join and leave messages, and block-history access.
Donator+ and Donator++ cost $30 CAD and $60 CAD in total contributions and add little beyond the rank display. Donations are non-refundable, including after a ban.

History of BetaMC
BetaMC was founded on October 13, 2024, by aq2a, jcheese7, and Orknarok_666. Its early plan combined Beta 1.7.3 survival with player towns and an economy instead of copying the version without additions.
The first Spawn Town appeared on November 14, 2024, on the original map. Construction opened to the early whitelisted community several days later, and the first Admin Shop followed near the end of November.
That first map was lost on December 11, 2024. A replacement map launched the next day, with much of Spawn Town's walls and plaza rebuilt around the new Spawn Castle. The rebuilt town became the main meeting point for shops, travel, rules, and community projects.
The economy grew quickly during 2025. A modern Admin Shop opened in January, the underground Mall arrived in February, and item-for-item ChestShop trading was added in April. Players could earn money from mobs, sell materials, run stores, trade directly, and eventually purchase their own warps.
BetaMC added more competitive systems through the middle of 2025. ArenaFighter introduced structured duels with countdowns, restored inventories, fighter statistics, leaderboards, spectators, and betting. Auctioneer made quick player auctions possible, while Hitman added cash bounties that other players could claim by killing the target.
The server's economy and town systems continued to expand late in 2025. Banks, extra home slots, rotating special-item stock, player-owned warps, and additional community stores gave wealthy players more ways to shape the shared world. Public mob farms were later banned to limit uncontrolled money generation.
During 2026, the economy passed several major milestones, new stores and town projects appeared, and the GoldTools plugin changed how players obtained ores by removing ore purchases from the Admin Shop. The wiki also grew into a record of towns, landmarks, plugins, and server lore.
Today, BetaMC is a community-focused Beta 1.7.3 survival world built around villages, trading, exploration, and controlled danger. Its main attractions are the long-running town network, the player economy, hidden shrines containing rare vanilla items, and optional PvP activities outside the protected areas.
