About Avalore
Avalore is a whitelisted fantasy roleplay server for adults. Players create characters in a medieval world filled with magic, curses, multiple races, dangerous wilderness, and ongoing political stories.
Minecraft provides the world, but tabletop-style rules drive much of the roleplay. Characters use stats, skills, feats, experience, custom combat rules, crafting, alchemy, and patron-based magic. Events can change a character's abilities and open new story paths.
The main setting is the Southern Reach, a frontier region built around the mysterious Spire. Players settle towns, investigate old mysteries, travel through wild areas, and take part in campaigns and player-run events.
What Makes It Different
Avalore treats Minecraft like a tabletop adventure. Your character has stats, skills, feats, and possible patron magic, so an event can change who your character is instead of only giving better gear.
Roleplay is Minecraft gameplay where players act as characters in a shared fictional world and make choices from those characters’ perspectives.
Fantasy roleplay, character applications, in-character rules, and staff-supported stories define the server.
Medieval servers place Minecraft play in a period-inspired world where castles, villages, farms, roads, and trade shape what players build and pursue.

Start by creating a character and learning the Southern Reach setting. Most play happens through exploration, settlement life, conversations, investigations, and planned roleplay scenes. The wild areas contain beasts and other dangers, while places such as the Spire and Albern Crossing give players social hubs.
Characters earn experience by attending events. XP can improve stats and skills or unlock feats. Feats give characters new abilities, while Fabled Feats can add both a powerful boon and a lasting drawback.
Avalore adds stats, skills, feats, patrons, arcane magic, alchemy, custom combat, special crafting recipes, supernatural Fables, and a large setting compendium. Character abilities can include both benefits and costs rather than being simple upgrades.
The Southern Reach is a frontier of rolling hills, forests, swamps, mountains, ruins, and unexplored coastlines. The Spire is its main settlement, while the Wall separates the region from the northern Midlands. Albern Crossing serves as a dangerous but important waystation between the Spire and the northern swamps.
Combat uses custom rules for weapons, armor, health, and related character mechanics. Metagaming and powergaming are forbidden, so fights must respect both the character systems and the roleplay around them.
The Southern Reach uses the Crown as its main currency. Crowns support trade and larger transactions across the setting, while crafting uses materials such as steel, silver, starsilver, gemstones, and arcane crystals.
Events are a major source of character XP and story development. The community runs campaigns, seasonal activities, tournaments, elections, investigations, and player-led scenes. Named story arcs have included the pirate campaign Covetous.
The community uses an active forum structure for character applications, lore, announcements, player events, newsletters, and in-character writing. New players receive help through the whitelisting and community teams, while the wider setting is shaped by player characters and staff-run story support.
Avalore is 18+ and requires an application before joining. Players must follow roleplay rules against metagaming and powergaming, use suitable medieval-fantasy skins, and treat other players respectfully. Mature themes do not automatically mean that players consent to explicit content or out-of-character mature discussion.

History of Avalore
Avalore was operating by August 2024 as a fantasy Minecraft roleplay project built by people with backgrounds in Minecraft roleplay and tabletop games. Its early design focused on giving players a flexible setting rather than forcing everyone into one narrow character type.
The server's main stage became the Southern Reach, a frontier land south of the Wall. In the setting's history, the Aedall vanished roughly fifty years before the current era, leaving abandoned settlements, unexplained ruins, and room for new arrivals to shape the region.
The Spire became the center of settlement. This enormous and mysterious structure drew adventurers, merchants, scholars, and builders together, turning the surrounding area into a growing town with its own government, guards, and militia.
Avalore's systems developed beyond ordinary Minecraft roleplay. Stats and skills began shaping character tests, while feats gave players special abilities and distinct weaknesses. Experience from events could be spent improving characters, and some players could pursue magical pacts with supernatural patrons.
The mechanical layer expanded to cover combat, weapon and armor classes, health, arcane abilities, alchemy, crafting, and special items. Custom materials such as silver, starsilver, refined steel, and arcane crystals gave crafting and character development a stronger role in the setting.
The community later organized its work across Community, Lore, Systems, and Technical teams. Campaigns, newsletters, elections, tournaments, and player events helped keep the world moving between larger story arcs. Covetous introduced a pirate-themed campaign to the wider setting.
Today, Avalore remains an adult, application-based fantasy RP server centered on the Southern Reach. Its ongoing appeal comes from combining a persistent shared setting with character rules that let events, choices, and relationships matter as much as equipment.
